I'm an iSchool alumna and former Master of Information Student Council (MISC) President. I'm very proud of the current iSchool students advocating for their own needs and supporting their peers.

Sending support to the iSchool students, and a call to all Library, Information Science, and Archival programs in Canada to take action on these issues.

As a UofT staff member who works with iSchool students, I want to express my support for these calls and gratitude for the work of the Diversity Working Group who has supported my own learning as a professional.

Solidarity. The iSchool can and must do better.

I fully support my BIPOC classmates in this need for change. They alone cannot do it but they are the driving force for holding the iSchool accountable and for ensuring that everyone is included and equal. So appreciative of everyone who has worked on this.

Thank you to all of the members of the Diversity Working Group (and MPOC, AIWG, ICWG, and MISC) for the endless labour you have put into your initiatives to make the iSchool a more supportive and diverse place. I support these demands as one step that the University of Toronto iSchool can take toward anti-racism.

We know that our graduates can make a world of difference in the communities they serve. We need to do more to enable BIPOC students to make that journey. All of the items specified in this petition are essential to that goal.
