Misogynistic threats and abuse are not a form of discussion nor disagreement.

Appalled by all of this. Too afraid for my career to sign my real name. But I am in total solidarity with JK Rowling and all the people who signed this letter.

Freedom of speech is needed and freedom from hate and abuse should be part of that.

I am a proud transwoman and I stand with JK Rowling. Safeguarding our children and women’s sex-based rights is not transphobia.

There is absolutely nothing transphobic in what JKR has written.

Polite, reasoned expression of facts and opinion is always acceptable, and a far cry from the abusive slurs and threats encountered in response...JK Rowling has done nothing wrong, and much that is right - many excellent books and massive philanthropy to help others in need from the money she earned by her own merit and effort...

Thank you JK. Your bravery has identified some dangerously gullible people.

I support JK Rowling and her freedom of speech. She speaks for many vulnerable and voiceless women. As George Orwell ssid ‘If liberty means anything at all it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.’

It is the violent response to Rowling’s letter that persuades me both that her letter was necessary, and that she needs support. Cancellation precludes dialogue. We need a society based on mutual respect.
