This is a truly frightening time to be a woman. So much hatred. So much.

Calling someone a bigot for expressing concerns about potential law changes which will affect the rights of women and children is disgusting

As an individual, woman, humanist, active in the arts myself, I am already concerned when any uninformed, distorted reading overrides an author's intention... And worse, if such misinterpretation should be allowed to run wild and go rampant. Shouting down and 'canceling' are simply counterproductive. This will not help us understand better and further. For communication in writing and the public realm, as well as in ordinary conversations to make sense and decency, it must be possible to say: Please listen, before you (mis)understand. This is what I am saying, this is my concern, this is what I mean.

I was naive to think that any of women's hard won freedoms would never be rolled back. JKR has explained a complicated set of issues that have arisen in stealth which will materially affect every family.

When you realise that the same people (celebs and non-famous) who attack J K Rowling are the same people who demonized the actor Johnny Depp whom she defended as he was victim of abuse and slander from his abusive wife Amber Heard, it tells you a lot about the true reasons behind their attacks on J K Rowling. As for the Harry Potter actors that have played Judas on her, I have no sympathy for them. Nor for the Hollywood/comic books/videos games/music jerks that participated in the witch hunt against J K Rowling.
