Proud to sign this petition in support of a woman who has been a huge inspiration to my book obsessed daughter.

Because threats of violence and sexual abuse are never justified. Because advocating women’s rights does not constitute an attack on transgender people.

I'm not a 'fan' of the Harry Potter series but have read some of the books and watched the films with my grandchildren. However, nothing she has said or written is deserving of the transmisogyny she has faced. Also, she, like all of us, has the right to free speech under the law. Her critics are zealots not reasonable people.

She has so much empathy and compassion, which shines through in her books.

It is 2020 and Britain is a liberal Democracy. That a petition is needed to condemn the vile threats, misogynistic abuse and gross misrepresentation of J K Rowling is deeply disturbing. These threats not only seek to attack Ms Rowling but they act as a warning to other women, showing what they can expect if they defend women's rights. Twitter in particular it seems, really hates women and it's failure to act against these threats can only be taken as an endorsement.

There is no excuse for threats of violence, for abusive language, for misogyny. None.

It’s not transphobic to want to keep safeguarding for women and children.

This is utter madness. As a biology grad 12 years ago I view the current push by trans activists as a pernicious, dangerous and stupid misinformation campaign. Rowling is compassionate and well reasoned in her views on this topic... the rest is noise
