I stand with JK. Sex is a biological attribute, gender is a social construct. Women’s rights are human rights. Trans rights are human rights. This is not an either / or debate - this is not a binary choice. We can respect everyone by respecting everyone.

Nobody tells me what I’m allowed to read. And for what it’s worth, I’m a gay man.

All people have the right to voice their opinions within the law, and should not be subjected to threats, intimidation, harassment and abuse.

Trans women are trans women, trans men are trans men, women are women, men are men.

I fully support the rights of trans and non binary people to respect, dignity and compassion. However, I am concerned that I as a woman I am no longer free to speak my own truth.

What a good woman she is to speak out when she could keep her head down.

Tricky issue; debate needs to be open and not closed down by parties that close their ears and minds to diverse views that may oppose their own. Balancing the rights of all in society is critical and sometimes not all rights can be squared in all situations. In this case, I can see both sides of the argument and realise that views can be strongly held but compromise is still achievable.

I am not transphobic and nor is JK Rowling. I support everything that she said in her letter.

It’s disgusting to see ignorant, hateful and misinformed people so ready to bully and spread misinformation about this wonderful woman. How we want our world to be depends on our response to this. I want civility, understanding and a fair go for women and girls.
