Free speech should be applauded & supported. J K Rowling has given educated & measured response in the face of abuse & persecution. I support her.

While I don’t agree with all of JK Rowling’s views, I strongly believe in free speech and the need for open discussion and debate in a democratic society.

As a sexual assault survivor myself, she made and continues to make excellent points. I do believe you can be cautious for biological women’s safety, especially for young girls, and our right to be called women and supportive of trans people at the same time.

Thank you for standing up for the rights of women and girls. We must be able to keep our safe spaces from the intrusion of men. Only a male body can rape a woman and simply saying the words “I am woman” does not decommission that body or the danger it poses.

Her comments did not convey hate or rejection at all. Literally all she said is the now uncomfortable logical conclusion that eliminating the concept of biological sex makes it difficult to talk about the experiences of women.
The other aspect that saddens me is the growing trend of people taking their personalities to be their gender identity, and not their biological sex. Personality and cultural stereotypes should have nothing to do with it. *Those* are what we need to deconstruct. It's as if we've given up on trying to not put people in boxes, and merely resorted to lumping people into a different box as they are lead to believe their personality would dictate. My heart goes out to any effeminate man and any masculine woman, or somewhere in between, who has felt the need for a completely unnecessary pronoun change simply because of society's expectations of them to act a certain way that clashes with their personality.
