I heartily disagree with the decision to erect the Never Forgotten memorial in Cape Breton Highlands National Park. As a proud Canadian, I believe that our national parks are treasures and should be treated as such. Placing a monument without comprehensive public consultation does not respect the legacy of all Canadians.

It is the mandate of Parks Canada to protect Canada's wilderness areas --not desecrate them.

Please don't build this monstrosity in our beautiful National Park!! A park is for nature and for all people to enjoy. Should not be a place for a political monument!

I am firmly against this project because it aims to exploit our fallen! Our fallen should NEVER be used for commercial gain. Need mind the fact that it is planned to be put in a horrible location, what it will do to our fallen is of the utmost importance. Their memories deserve better than this!

$25 Million for this monstrosity. Are you people out of your minds?

Just another example of mis spent tax payers dollars. If this were to go ahead, it should be built entirely from private funds and in a more appropriate site. There's got to be an island out there somewhere where it wouldn't spoil the natural beauty of our pristine Canadian shores. I oppose this memorial. I support our military and the sacrifices they made - more attention and funding should be spent on veterans than a sculpture!

This is the worst example yet of "plop art", art plopped down from on high with no consultation. It's a travesty of process with regard to acquiring the land and in commissioning public art. This is a horrible design, out of scale and out of place, and in bad taste. There is no tradition of "Mother Canada;" The whole idea is just plop from heaven. The real motivation seems to be making money off of kitsch. The parking lot alone is incomprehensible.

If people want to spend money this way, I say "OK." but never in a national park.

ruins the landscape...we don't need any more memorials, just take care of the veterans instead of this waste of money!

Huge, tacky Mother-Mary-look-alike that will mar the beauty of Green Cove.

This is a national park, and must not be subject to such an eyesore.

Put the money to better use than this eyesore. Veterans could certainly use it!
