Leave your politics and wasted money elsewhere, not the beautifully unencumbered shorelines of Cape Breton.

$25 million for a statue is too much. Give it to the veterans.

This is not against the vets but the location. Not in the Cape Breton Highland National Park period.

I am in favour of a war memorial, but not this one, and certainly not in Green Cove.

A true abuse of the public trust. That land can never be given away.

If you build this monument on the most beautiful and pristine section of natural coastline on Green Cove, then it will no longer be a pristine section of natural coastline and it may never return to that state. I'm not surprised that this idea has the endorsement of our federal government. They obviously have little respect for the natural beauty of this country. They just want to say "Hey, look at this $25 million dollar thing we did." Trigiani, your money has clouded your sense.

This is such a natural area. Please keep it that way. Sometimes humans get in the way. This is an example.

This monument should not be within the Park boundaries. The value of the Park lands to all Canadians far exceeds Mr. Trigiani's fund raising goal. He should purchase land outside of the Park for his proposed memorial.

Not in Highlands National Park! There are many more appropriate places on Cape Breton for this monument, though no monument can help the living veterans who have suffered and are still suffering from war.

The first commitment listed in the Parks Canada Charter: "To protect , as a first priority, the natural and cultural heritage of our special places and ensure that they remain healthy and whole." Parks Canada should follow its Charter by retaining the natural heritage of the Trail.

Veterans are getting shortchanged by this proposal! Build it where people can easily get to it year round rather than in a national park that's closed more than half the year.

As the daughter of a vet and the niece of 8 other vets I strongly oppose the location of this monument. It is inappropriate for the location. ( My dad would have been appalled at the idea of a monument within the Park.))

It would be nice to know WHo is financing a private monument in a national park and how did they get permission. And WHAT exactly does $25 million buy? Certainly not common sense when it comes to obstructing the view of the ocean; one of the reasons the park was created in the first place. More detail would be appreciated. A suggestion - put it in it's own dedicated park along the Trans canada Highway where more people will see it. Or at the North Sydney ferry terminal.....

I do not support the construction of this monument. Please put it somewhere else or redesign it - regardless, get approval from the public of Cape Breton [Canadian living abroad who cares deeply about her homeland!!]

I am not opposed to the monument BUT I am opposed to it being located at Green Cove. I believe that it will destroy the pristine nature of this important look-off in the Cape Breton Highlands National Park
