While I support a memorial it should not be in Green Cove. The construction of such a memorial and associated complex in the coastal zone of a Natiional Park is wrong.

Let there be a "Foundation" to feed and house children, the homeless. Or preserve the environment.

Quite simply, this is the wrong direction for Canada's national identity to be reaching or facing.

No artistic value; most important it takes space from nature: animals, etc.

The monument is a great idea- somewhere else not in the National Park. Families were removed from their land to create this madter

Give the money to veterans and do not overthrow Mother Nature with a made up Mother Canada - it sounds weird and looks weird and I hope it never gets built .... especially in a national nature reserve.

NO WAY - This is a monstrousity of a egotistical legacy project in the guise of honouring our veterans.

This would be a blight on the beauty of nature. Put this in a city if it must be somewhere. I don't think we need it anywhere though.

Wow, I am so against this, I can't really express it properly. Why would someone even consider building a monstrous tacky statue in one of the most naturally beautiful places on earth? This is so wrong! Not to mention the massive waste of money ... which could be used to protect the environment ... save more of our coastline and offshore islands, don't build tacky statues in our beautiful Nova Scotian outdoors!

Please reconsider this monument. I am disappointed to hear there was no consultation or consideration for the space that this monument will be occupying. Lets keep our processes democratic and our provincial parks as wilderness reserves, as intended.

We must preserve our beautiful coastline, and the natural splendour of the island and it's parks. The underlying motive behind this project appears to be profit, not commemoration. There are better ways to remember our war dead.

National parks are to preserve our natural assets. This is a travesty. Please do not go ahead with this ugly, monumental and garish statue.

I enjoy this park for its nature and do not wish to have it associated with any sentiment (particularly a hard to ignore colossal one), however well intentioned. It is moreover hideous.

No,no no for many reasons but especially the greed and gall of it. The valiant dead will throw it in the ocean with all the rest of the waste of humankind. What a joke this is on Cape Bretonners and those who have died in war

I am totally opposed to this abomination masquerading as a monument to the Fallen of Canada. This does not belong in Cape Breton Highlands National Park. What a circus! Does anybody who is supporting this realize what a blight this will be? Have they ever been through the park to realize that this does not belong in a haven of nature, rest and relaxation. Give it up..it does not belong. Who is Mother Canada anyhow. What a crock!!! It's not about the Veterans it's about business and profit.

I don't agree with it at all. Sacrificing near pristine wilderness for this monstrosity? If we don't protect nature in our national parks then it's over. Nature has lost. The reasoning is pretty clear there. Put it next to the Keltic Lodge. Done deal. Oh wait then the Federal government wouldn't make any money from it. Having been a fly fishing guide for ten years in Cape Breton and having travelled all over the world I can tell you that Cape Breton is one of the most beautiful places anywhere. I think this statue is ugly compared to this beauty. Why can't the private investor place the money in a guaranteed investment and donate the money to veterans services. Now there is a legacy to leave behind! I understand the sentiment. My Grandfather served in WW2. I have his medals in my living room. I have always believed that respect and gratitude come from inside the heart. Not from a monument. Put up a information kiosk and some benches explaining this poignant aspect of this location. Low impact. Just my opinion....
