To the Northwest Arkansas Times, its owner, WEHCO Media, and its publisher, Stephens Media LLC:
We, the undersigned, are aware that the Northwest Arkansas Times is under pressure to change its longstanding wedding announcement policy. We are signing this petition to let you know that we support keeping the current policy in place.
Simply put, it makes sense to only include wedding announcements for upcoming marriages recognized by Arkansas law. If the door is opened to exceptions, then there would be no end to them, and this section of the newspaper would not serve its primary purpose.
Thank you for your continued service to our community.
The editors at the Northwest Arkansas Times are still ignoring our message while they flirt with dismantling our policy. WEHCO Media needs to realize that our community expects them to uphold standards instead of caving to outside pressure.

Keep the traditions like they are. If everyone gets to pick and choose what goes in the paper it will be a total mess. Stick to the state laws.

If you change it for one you have to change it for everyone. Bad idea.

Well said. The paper has a standard for a reason. Don't cave to the pressure.
