Trinity College Dublin's mission statement states that College is committed "to the enhancement of the learning experience of each of its students" and is an environment where "students are nurtured as individuals and are encouraged to achieve their full potential".

Unfortunately, Trinity College Dublin (TCD) is not currently fulfilling this commitment to its engineering and computer science students by failing to provide careers services and advice to these students in the TCD Careers Advisory Service.

Due to the absence of a careers advisor for engineering and computer science students, TCD students in these departments are not allowed to meet with any cousellor in the TCD Careers Advisory Service to discuss future career paths and postgraduate study. Many engineering and computer science students would really value guidance and support in determining and directing their career paths and are very disappointed that they do not receive the same careers services from the TCD Careers Advisory Service as students from other departments in TCD.

It is unacceptable that there is no careers advisor for TCD engineering and computer science students. We appeal that an engineering and computer science careers guidance cousellor be employed in the TCD Careers Advisory Service to serve the needs of all students so that College better fulfills its mission statement.

The response to this initiative has grown significantly in recent days. This momentum confirms that students across these departments share a clear expectation for better professional guidance. We are now preparing to present these concerns to the administration.

As a student of computer science in TCD, I am disappointed to see that I am not being afforded the same resources as students in other schools in the college.

Computer Science student here. Two years without someone in this role is reprehensible.

Matter that must be dealt with if Trinity College wishes to maintain it's ranking over other colleges in the field of Engineering

There should be career guidance for all in this university as we all pay fees. If we can't all receive the same quality of education and mentorship, then why should we choose Trinity College Dublin as a university to attend over others?

As a student of electrical and electronic engineering, I am deeply disappointed that there are no career guidance services for me.

It's disgraceful that an educational institution as renowned as TCD is lacking such a fundamental resource in this field. As Computing and Engineering become increasingly more important in modern society TCD is depriving its students with the resources and facilities they need to make major decisions in their lives. This in turn impacts upon society as a whole.
