As a parent who also has an 8 month old, trying to cross the road holding a baby and the hand of my 6 year old, whilst trying to look in both directions for cars (some of which are speeding), having a crossing would make this not only easier, but much much safer for ALL children and their parents

It’s really a shame that the council cannot facilitate a safe crossing for school children without the need for a petition.

Walking to school in the morning is just dangerous. The propose scheme is inadequate, we need a central island so we can cross the road in two parts, one with fast moving traffic from Morden Road, then the slow moving traffic going in the other direction.
We see terrible things every day and something needs to be done to properly address this.
You have also removed some speed bumps! Just to make the point i'll say that again "Removed speed bumps".
Please see sense and help look after the children of this borough before something awful happens.

Please keep our kids safe by adding a zebra crossing on Dorset Road. I usually have more then two kids with me and it’s a struggle to cross with them with the number of cars/vans passing by. It is not safe at all! Thank you

I have to drive my son to school everyday as I live over 3 miles away and this was the only school we were offered by Merton Council. Like the schools listed in the petition, my nearest school, Hollymount which is on a relatively quiet road opposite a park has had new traffic calming measures installed recently, yet Park Community which is on a much busier and major cut through has NOTHING. Dorset road is dangerous, especially at the A24 end. Not only do cars exceed the 20 mile an hour speed limit, but regularly impatient drivers drive on the wrong side of the road. The cars over-take the stationary traffic either to cut down Daybrook Road or on many occasion are so impatient that they drive past the queue and push in at the end to get on to the A24. At the top of Dorset Road the raised area does slow the traffic down and has improved the safety for those crossing from the Tram, where I would suggest the traffic is moving at a much slower pace coming off the Kingston Road and would have been less of a priority area in my view than down at the bottom by Park Community School.

I am a father of a six year old child and I never felt safe crossing the road. Therefore please can you withdraw your current proposal and go ahead with suggested proposals from all parents. Many thanks

Safety is paramount when children are at risk. My child attends this school and I see daily how dangerous the current situation is.

Avoiding basic safety measures regarding the children and families of Park Community School is inexcusable. There are plenty of British roads where, as a motorist, you turn into a road off a roundabout and are immediately faced with a ridiculous zebra crossing that serves no purpose but to hold up traffic on the roundabout, and that is deemed acceptable whereas a zebra crossing outside a primary school on a busy road does not meet the same criteria?? Merton Council you MUST prioritise this proposal with URGENCY or I expect you will be held accountable for an accident involving someone from the school community.

As a parent I find the road crossing at Park Community School extremely difficult.
As a disabled person with severe walking difficulties I often struggle or have fear of crossing the road. In case of a hazard I would not be able to respond fast or to protect my daughter or myself. The road is large in width and having to look for a traffic in both directions makes the crossing really challenging and unsafe. Furthermore I often see parents and their kids running to cross the road. I strongly insist that Merton council implement the changes proposed by Park Community School.

My little brother attends this school and it's incredibly dangerous for him when crossing the road, he's 7. He's not able yet to make a proper judgement call about the speed of cars or traffic, yes he obviously crosses with an adult but proper safety measures should be put in place for the children.

Our kids safety is the most important. We mustn’t wait until a serious accident happens before it is made safe for them to cross.

It's shocking why there are no zebra crossing in front each school. They should be compulsory. Lack of them is yet another way of prioritising vehicle traffic and put pedestrians lives in risk. I don't understand how this is acceptable.

Although I do not live in Merton my child attends Park Community School. He is regularly subjected to the dangerous hazards of this road and many times I have had to pull him out of the way of cars driving up the wrong side of the road in order to avoid the queue of traffic and turn right onto Daybrook road. Measures need to be taken to ensure this does not continue and Merton Council waiting until someone is injured or dead to do that is unacceptable. The current proposal will not stop cars from performing this dangerous and illegal manoeuvre, not will it slow the speeding traffic from the A24 any more than it would allow better visibility on the side full of traffic.
I don't not understand why my or any other child at Park Community School should not be afforded the same care and safety measures given to other schools in the borough.

No school has parking for parents to drop off and collect their children, usually they are parked illegally in permit holder only roads, walk or take public transport it'll save alot of issues.
