This is an accident waiting to happen! It is a school, it was approved to be there and this should have been thought of at the time. Now it must be put right.

The whole length of Dorset Road is a rat run with cars and vans regularly speeding/overtaking on the wrong side of the road. With so many children crossing, particularly at Merton Park tram stop, it is an accident waiting to happen.

I sign this petition because I believe that people's safety is paramount.

The unsafe conditions on the roads around Park Community School, especially directly opposite the school entrances, are awfully unsafe and have been from the day this school opened its doors. It has been several years now that the school and community have asked for better solutions and safer crossings. I am aware of several campaigns undertaken by the school to raise awareness with and secure adequate, safe crossings, from the Council. Something needs to be done before another accident takes place which may be fatal.

Children’s safety should come first, cars race along this road, I have been overtaken while doing 20mph.

Where my daughter gose to school we have a zebra crossing and a Lillie pop lady without her and the crossing it wouldn't be safe to cross the road all school should have atkeast zebra crossing or lights. As people in the morning and evening rush have road rage and don't look or stop are children matter they are the future knwone should be run over on the way to school.

Cars pass by the school much too quickly. Children and adults are in danger. Something must be done.

Proper crossing facilities benefit the wider community as well as the school. There are many children crossing the road to get to other local schools as well.

I regularly collect my grandchildren from Park Community School and the traffic on Dorset Road frankly terrifies me. The vehicles continually exceed the speed limit. A pedestrian crossing is absolutely essential as the road in its current state is an accident waiting to happen.

I consider that a controlled pedestrian crossing is absolutely imperative, for the safety of children and adults in the vicinity of the school. I am astonished that there have been no more serious accidents recently, as cars regularly exceed the speed limit along Dorset Road, as well as driving in a very inconsiderate and unsafe manner. This absolutely must be remedied at the earliest possible time.

My nephews go this school, it’s an absolute nightmare crossing the road and it’s dangerous, whenever I pick them up I’m always fearful of crossing the road safely.

Please make our kids safe and help parents to drop kids safely at school. I don’t want to believe that you (council) only going to do something when someone dies ?

Please give our children a safe place to cross this road to get to and from school. It is currently so unsafe. If we try to cross the road further down near Sandbourne Ave and Erridge roads, we have to contend with cars flying around the sharp corner on Dorset Road. If we cross further up towards the school we are faced with traffic crawling up towards the A24 and cars racing from the A24 in opposite directions. There is currently ONE flashing light which is hidden by trees! Most of time its not working. This is not much to ask to keep our children and other members of the general public safe.

In a nutshell: Child's safety should prevail while taking such a decision, not any political mumbo jumbo.

Just as an example of dangerous situations on Dorset Rd. We were on our bikes riding to school some months back. A driver took the bend at Erridge road junction very fast just as Isaac (8yrs old) had started crossing. I had to scream to stop him and he only just managed to. I chased the driver who got stuck behind traffic building up at the junction to the A24 and indicated for the guy to open his window, I explained that this was a 20mph zone because children are crossing regularly to go to school and that he was driving too fast and could have knocked my son off his bike! The guy looked like he didn’t even know that he’d done something. He mumbled sorry. Basically there was nothing stopping him from going fast and he was in a hurry, there are always going to be drivers who go fast along that road. Measures to control speed should be seen as a priority.

Every day I struggle to cross the road, especially in the mornings when traffic is really bad.

Children's safety is paramount at all times and especially when near busy traffic routes.
