The CIAC finally agreed to update the rule and allow our players to compete for both teams. This is a massive victory for Connecticut hockey and proves that we can force change when we organize together. Keep watching the board policy in the coming years to make sure they stick …

Help us petition the CIAC to allow High School Aged Players to play both Junior/Club Hockey and their High School teams. This is the practice in NY and the rest of the Northeast (Rhode Island is the exception). The CIAC has not entertained this thought. The current practice has decreased the level of play in both HS Hockey as well as Bantam Hockey. A change in the Rule for the 2015-2016 Season will greatly improve the quality of HS Hockey in Connecticut. Most importantly this puts all of CT's players at a disadvantage in comparison to the rest of the country.

Updates

The CIAC continues to ignore our requests for a meeting regarding these outdated rules. Email your representatives today to demand they pressure the board to finally review this policy.

The momentum behind this rule change is undeniable and proves how many people want our talent to stay competitive. Take this momentum to your local rink and tell the coaches that the CIAC must modernize their policy before next season. Email your district representative today to demand they address this regional disadvantage.

I have been playing hockey my entire life and I have been apart of both Junior hockey and currently high school hockey. Being able to play for both would not only increase the talent level in high school hockey, but it would also give an opportunity for players to improve their skills while being able to experience the thrill of playing in front of your friends and family in a friendly school to school manner.

This rule makes no sense. No reason for CT to be one of 2 states nationwide that have this restriction.

this would also allow kids whose families don't have the resources to play more competitively.

Once again CT is at a disadvantage because of legislation that prohibits growth. It is essential for young players to gain as much exposure as possible while growing up in CT and playing high school hockey. Ultimately you will pick up the overall level of play at the high school level.

Allowing High School kids to get more ice time with club and travel teams that choose to, helps them improve their hockey games enabling them to play at a higher level in both High School and College.

This should have been done years ago ct. Is truly in the dark ages with this rule it takes a great experience away from kids who have been playing hockey since they were very small away from them not to mention it will help to strengthen participation from a much better talent pool and make high school hockey much better balanced

No reason to prevent kids from playing the sport they love.
