To,

The Chairman,

Indian Banks' Association

World Trade Centre Complex, Centre I, Units 1,2 & 4,

6th Floor, Cuffe Parade,

Mumbai-400 005.

EMail:[email protected]

On the eve of Xth Bi-Partite Settlements,Punjab National Bank Employees' Forum, on behalf of employees of banking sector, in this country, hereby extends few important demands to improve the service conditions and working ambiance of banking industry:

1.PAY SCALES

In the matter of starting Pay, a basic attraction to youngsters to join any bank, SBI offers to its new recruits 4 more increments than what nationalized Banks offer. In the process every DRO and every PO choose to join SBI. There are several instances where young officers resign from nationalized Banks to join SBI. Such migration is causing considerable damage to the image of nationalized banks.

Moreover, quantum of hike commensurate with hike given to central government employees, as per sixth pay commission, is desired.

2. STAGNATION FREE SCALES OF PAY

SBI has scheme under which its officers are given automatic upgradation of scales, based on seniority, upto Scale III. This provides the facility of stagnation free scales of pay for SBI officers. Whereas the officers of non-State Bank of India real under the pressure of stagnation and consequent frustration anddemoralization

Rationalization of Pension, laying down proportionate increase in pension benefits, with every wage settlement/hike.

3.Regulated working hours

Regulated working hours for all bank employees and laying of uniform and proper working hours for all bank employees. The Bank officers deserve a Regulated working hours which is eluding solution for quite a few years. The issue has been further aggravated with Bank managements, without exception, calling upon field functionaries, Branch Managers to attend Business conferences, recovery schedule, special drive in respect of funds and organizing credit camps on Sundays and even holidays and this has become a regular phenomenon. This has taken a heavy toll on the health and life of a large number of officers and their families and some have paid heavy price of ending their lives not being able to bear the work pressure. Hence this issue being resolved immediately, brooks no delay.

4.Five days a week.

Traditional banking channels being supplemented by anytime Banking, internet banking, anywhere Banking etc., and important clientele adopting 5 days week, there is a strong urge for introduction of 5 days week in banks for all.

5.Adequate safety in workplace. The maker checker concept should be introduced for all types of transactions and some provisions where CTO can initiate and authorize transactions like, Transfer:Rs25000,Cash Debit Rs20000,Cash Credit Rs25000 etc. without post facto scrutiny, should immediately bescrapped.

This is my humble request to the concerned people (IBA & Fin Ministry) to first try to at least understand and analyze the ground realities in a PSU bank and then look upon the demands in the BPS. The meager salary a banker gets is no where justified to the risk attached ti his job. The never ending working hrs of banks have made us feel like donkeys rather than employees. Regarding 5 day week, it will be beneficial to both the govt & the employee in the long run (we all know how much resources will be saved). Lastly, please talk to middle aged banker (neither a new joinee nor a near to retirement banker) to assess how is it like to be a banker? These union morons have no clue how justified our demands are. PLZ think about it.
