Udemy is now a large company distributing a sizable amount of money to its instructors. Nowadays there is increased risk of piracy and stories of instructors getting their accounts hacked. We are demanding that Udemy take instructor account security seriously and implement the following measures:

  1. Optional 2FA (Multi Factor Authentication) for instructor accounts.
  2. Payout delay of 5 days in case of payout method change
  3. Emails notification sent out when Co-Instructor revenue share changes or when Co-Instructor are added with full details of the before / after changes.
  4. Emails notification sent with possibility of roll-back if the instructor's email address has been changed.

We do trust in Udemy's ability to execute on these requests, and would be grateful for a timeline communication on those. Security is not optional nowadays, it should be a priority.

Thanks in advance,
The instructor community

THIS MOMENTUM IS ABSOLUTELY ELECTRIC!! IT IS CLEAR THAT UDEMY CANNOT IGNORE OUR DEMAND FOR BETTER SECURITY ANY LONGER BECAUSE WE ARE MOVING TOGETHER WITH UNSTOPPABLE FORCE!!

It's not a matter of "if" but a matter of "when". While all the ideas are fantastic, 2 factor authentication is a must. Props to Stéphane for putting this list together.

As a person who teaches tech tutorial 2FA is important. Hindsight is 20/20 and implementing these changes will be cheaper than if there is a data breach.

With the ease of implementing 2FA using tools like Google Authenticator, this is a low cost engineering item with massive benefits and protections for both Udemy and the instructor. It’s 2019, there is no reason for 2FA not to be enabled for Udemy logins. We are talking about accounts with thousands of dollars going through them monthly, this needs to be done.

Very good initiative. 2FA is a must-have.

Why are we having to have a petition for baseline improved security?

Brilliant idea! However, enforce 2FA rather than making it optional.

Totally agree with the idea of 2FA, and notification about changes to payout details. Thanks for this.
