I was at the rally for free speech and I saw with my own eyes, Cassandra Williams, actively preventing others from speaking. It’s absolutely unacceptable that an official of the U of T, University Student Union, who is paid a salary through obligatory student fees, behaves as a thug. I strongly agree that she should be impeached from her position. Some of her actions can be seen this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hSOmuO65eg

The personal and private lives of the elected officials were choose to represent us, whether union, provincial, federal, or otherwise, should be kept entirely separate. This shows a clear dedication to a personal cause over the interests of the student body at large, and that should not be tolerated.

Shameful behaviour for ANY citizen to stifle free speech in this country. Even worse at an institution of higher learning. This disgraceful act is an affront to all Canadians. Williams must go.

We need to put an end to all this PC madness, and start acting like normal people again

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hSOmuO65eg The above video captures Cassandra Williams playing white noise over a free speech rally. Williams represents the UTSU and I'd be disgusted if UTSU was reflected in her actions. I hope that the UTSU remembers Williams' controversy and will replace her with a representative more fit for the position.

Shameful. How is THIS representing students? Removal and disciplinary action immediately.

I am appalled that a person who has embellezed funds and aided and abetted criminals is allowed to remain as VP

Free speech should be allowed! Doesn't matter which side the person represents in a debate. A disgrace that a member of the UTSU was a part of this.

This is a huge disgrace to the open and free speech community U of T provides.

Such actions are not acceptable from any person, and especially from a leading member of the Student's Union. We have a right to hold rally's and to discuss peacefully our concerns. The rally was in no way violent from the supporters of free speech, and yet there was violence and attempts to shut down the rally by various people, especially including Cassandra Williams. She and and followers played noise to drown out the presenters, and also there were attempts to steal equipment, and rip the mics from the hands of presenters. This goes against what a rational society stands for, it goes against free speech, and against basic human decency. A representative of the students should not act against the very students they claim to support. An impeachment is required.

Cassandra Williams, perhaps if you opened your ears and your head and turned off the speakers, you might actually learn some TOLERANCE for other people's opinions and cultural beliefs. What's the matter? Prof Peterson too white for you?

This isn't about being pro-pc or anti-pc. This is about someone receiving a salary which is paid for by the entire student body, showing absolute bias and disregard for a large number of the students they were meant to represent. If Cassandra wants to participate in shutting down and silencing speakers at the University, speakers for whom a number of the University's paying students wish to hear, then she should absolutely be free to do so. However, she should have realised that doing so while holding the title she does, is very irresponsible and a direct conflict of interest. Remove Cassandra Williams and find someone who is willing and able to represent the ENTIRE student body to best of their abilities, not according to their own agenda.

Intellectual freedom must be protected and defended at the university.
