Impact of Independence HS sharing with 3 Charter Schools

Adding more charter schools is a slap in the face for IHS students. It's insulting. How many schools in the district have to share their campus with charter schools? As if adding more isn't enough. IHS is no longer Independence High School but "Home of Charter Schools." Either give IHS a new campus or get rid of all the charter schools and don't add any more. It disgusting to see you people talk about adding "three more charter schools."

There were problems when I went to Independence, but this is ridiculous. Get it together.

WE DON'T NEED ANOTHER SCHOOL

I'm an Independence High school students and think the sharing of our campus is unfair since the charter schools use our stuff and don't even contribute to our school.

The charter students should not be prioritized over district independence school students.

I'm against parking lot charter schools because parking lots should be used for parking and high schools should be in a safe location/environment conducive for learning and not placed in a location where one has to worry about dodging cars. Charter schools should not impede on pre-existing public high school facilities and locations. They should have a designated home of their own apart from any standing public high school or parking lot.

Class of 09 , as an Independence Alumni I say we take those schools out , cause yes it creates more gang violence, students can't park and our sport facilities are needed for OUR independence students. When I was their Macsa and Pegasus were their and it creates problems but it's 3 more schools ? Big no no .

Charter Schools are not performing Check the study completed by Stanford U. The SCCOE Board has approved Charters without any consideration of our public schools One of the Charters has the reputation of Not Dealing with Students who do not qualify for college entrance - at the end of a Students Jr. Year - if he / she is not on track to enter College that student is sent back to their home school This allows the charter to claim that 99.99% of there students are qualified to enter college DR. Please get those chartered schools a new place. This school is our SCHOOL. OUR SCHOOL. Its been around for more than 40 years. Don't let it die...please!

With a growing school and the quality of students and teaching rising, Independence and educational park is supposed to be a huge park dedicated to one community.

Stop being so irresponsible to our students and fix these issues. Do your job. This is an embarrassment.

As an Independence High School graduate I strongly support this initiative, it will benefit not just independence high, which has been affected since I was attending there, but also the other 3 charter school current using independence high school campus to accommodate their staff answer conduct their academic curriculum.

I attended this school and graduated in 2007. Pegasus was a problem then and to add another school to this, already big volume, school sounds like shear chaos! It was difficult with the already 4000 students when I attended I couldn't even imagine how difficult it is now. I telnet just walking from one class to another took at the very minimum, if walking really fast, 7 minutes. I hope they come to their senses and realize the over populated school is hazardous and very dangerous to not only the students but the faculty.

I think it's stupid having three charters schools in independence high School. they know independence High School has more in students any other high schools. This petition is right they should put the Ace and downtown college prep charter schools in another school because this is so ridiculous. Independence students have the right and shouldn't changed their schedule in the first place And anyways Independence High School was their first.And the other three charter schools should change their schedule not Independence High School students and staff.
