Impact of Independence HS sharing with 3 Charter Schools

I agree. The impact of the three charter schools can be a problem. I've graduated from independence year 2015 and this was a huge concern for many students who attend Independence High School.

It was cramped and the students from the other schools aren't as nice. As you walk by they would call you name. You wouldn't even feel safe walking to the K-Building or walking pass B-Villa

One charter school was unsettling. But three is straight-out appalling. I've been constantly hollered at by charter school boys in VERY disrespectful ways, and I can't even report it to anybody because nobody seems to even by supervising these KIDS, I HATE walking into the bathroom and smelling the stagnant stench of cigarettes and discarded toilet paper, or walking in on TWO people in the same stall. These facilities need way better monitoring. I These kids need their OWN designated area. With these new plans, it would cut off HALF of our school and not leave room for our growing student body and hurt our school pride. But I guess money talks, right?

I agree with everything that was stated. I'm a junior at IHS and I've heard so many students and teachers talk about how inconvenient it is for them if we start sharing class rooms with the charter schools. So I hope that the district listens to the students voices and help us not add anymore charter schools on our campus so it's safer for us.

I think the charter schools should leave :)

I'm a former student and can't begin to imagine the chaos. This situation is unfortunate and not conducive of a learning environment.

I dont feel safe at my school anymore. I can use the bathroom with being harass by the kid from the charter school. Also they don't keep school clean

As a graduate of 2015, I have seen the development of charter schools happening and was already starting to look bad when we just had ONE. I'm so appalled that the district is allowing these charter schools in order to make money off of it instead of allowing the expansion of independence to happen. When did education become less important than money for the district??? I mean, the district was set up to HELP public schools out right?

That is crazy to have so many schools on one campus. Who was the genius who thought up this idea??? Should be fired!!

Seen low maintenance among the other charter schools. From the description given from this petition, those problems should be eradicated ASAP.

Not sure if this plan is in the best interest of all parties.

Thought it was Independence High School not InDCPKIPPendACE High School.

Independence already have trashy restrooms, we DO NOT need more people to share with us.
