Impact of Independence HS sharing with 3 Charter Schools

As an athlete, it is not fair that we attend Independence High School and are not able to have priority to our athletic facilities.

As a senior student at IHS, I can say that these charter schools are becoming irritating as I began to notice the students who are instigating a lot of trouble. However, not all of them are bad, but the majority of charter students are generally screwed up because of their poor discipline. In my opninion, they shouldn't belong to our campus if they're going to keep interfering with our school. I remember a year ago when I had a backpack incident in Jan. 2015. It was a horrible mess, and I may POSSIBLY think it could be one of the charter school students who have done it(this statement isn't accurate, but it could be one of them). My incident proved to be very terrible as security continues to deteriorate, and I agree that security cameras should be installed to prevent further problems. Nevertheless, I support this petition, not only because of the issues with charters, but also my fellow underclassmen, who want great years at Independence without these issues. Thank you. PS: Though this is a big issue at our school, where will the charter schools go, if we were to successfully protest the school board? Big problem here.

Bathrooms already stink as is.

It seems strange to me that people who deem comprehensive public high schools inferior should then demand to use the classrooms and facilities of a comprehensive public high school.

I believe having additional schools along with Independence High School causes many problems among the staffs and students. There are already trouble in the B-Common bathrooms, as the mess in there are far worst than it was in all my past years. Also, many after school students that are into sports find it difficult to practice, as our students can't get the benefit of good time - practice that may start as late as 5pm. So I propose that these charters school ought to find somewhere else, due to the cramp space at our campus.

I agree with all suggestions & I do not think it is right or safe for the charter schools to overwhelm the Independence campus, students, or staff. It is THEIR school first!

Having to share facilities with not one, but THREE charter schools is out right chaotic. These schools should have their own facilities off campus and not have to share those already in use by a much, much bigger school.

My concern is for my children's safety...isn't that our number one priority? As a parent we should be aware of any crimes that are happening on campus regardless if it with ihs students or the charter students. It would not be ok if kids from other schools come onto ihs campus and violate any rules and disrupt classes and harass teachers and students, then why isn't anything happening with the students from the charter schools? Also, my kids are in sports all year long and to have them have to share the gym, it's not fair to the students and coaches to have to be up too early or stay late, after all it is Ihs gym and Ihs field, etc. I don't see how adding another charter school on our campus is contributing to making Ihs a school parents will want to have their children go to.

Please get rid of them and add no more. They hold a horrible effect on our school and create an unhealthy learning environment

We shouldn't have to share our campus

I want my next 3 years plus this year to be amazing so doing this petition will make 1,000 freshman happy being in Independence High School :)

Even though I don't attend this school, I have friends that go to this school and I care for their well-being.

As a student, hearing about this makes me uncomfortable to learn in this environment.

The charter schools have always made me feel unsafe. I believe their staff doesn't do a good job of controlling the students.

I have a grill and wish to share it amongst 3 others at the same time, everyday. Each person puts their food item of choice onto the grill 'till it's overfilled. One might have beef and others chicken or fish. Due to the overload the grill cooks slower and now all the food is undercooked, despite their excellent quality. Due to the workload the grill goes through everyday, it's quality and sanitation deteriorates. You try to upkeep but, fail because you underestimate your time and ability to clean it. How can we cook this food to the best we can, daily? Your funding is limited so make your first choice wisely. A. More fuel and coals B. Upgrading your grill C. Sharing with less people D. More cleaners to upkeep

Independence HS is not being compensated enough for their compensation.
