I honestly just ignore the charter students I see near B-vill and the K-buildings but sometimes after school, I see a whole bunch of charter students, heading down the soccer field, going into a fight and that really irritates me on how distracting and assaulting they can be to other people. Honestly, they don't bring any value to our school, only causing harm to our school environment. I wish there was another place they can move to so the future students of IHS can go to school with their own peers who aren't from some other school.

I am on team sports and I do not think we should have practices late or not have practices at all .

This is ridiculous, going to Kipp with family and friends, Independence has had a far more privileged campus and area where students are allowed to work. I understand how the other charter schools in the campus may be causing problems to the campus, yet there has not been any incidents where a Kipp student has caused trouble in Independence. This is flat out disrespectful and cowardly to partially put any blame on the KSJC community. When talking about funding and campus size of Independence, it is NOWHERE near the struggle that Kipp San Jose Collegiate has had. It has been an enormous struggle in the music department, sports department, etc to fund and give the students the "high school" experience. I understand that the other charter campuses are causing such a struggle to Independence, and I am sorry to hear that, but please do not put the blame on Kipp San Jose Collegiate.

As a teacher in San Jose, I'm shocked at the conditions Independence teachers. Teachers and their students deserve respect.

They should not be taking away resources from these students. Adding more students to this campus will make it harder for them to learn and less safe.

I do agree with IHS concern and grievances. I highly support the IHS suggestions and/or possible solutions suggested. For the safety of all students, staff, parents and visitor and all that occupying the school, I hope the district will listen to the independence high school proposal. IHS students/staff should have the priority of the facility. THIS IS THEIR HOME! Please listen to them.

Many of the charter students are rude and disrupt classrooms which affects my learning. Because the charter schools are renting our facilities, many of their students don't seem to care and vandalize our campus. The charter schools themselves don't pay for the damages. IHS does. School is supposed to be one of the safest places to be in. However, I've seen charter school students glare and threaten IHS students. Because of this, I don't feel very safe at all.

I honestly do not have any sort of grudge or even the smallest amount of hatred towards the charter schools or their students, but that doesn't mean that I approve of the negative effect it has on me and my fellow peers. This year I am a junior in IHS, and I look forward to graduating knowing that the bad experiences I have ever had during my four years were at a minimum. Sadly there were a handful of incidents I had and still have that involved students from the charter schools every year so far. I witnessed a fight between 2 girls from one of the charter schools and almost hit in the face last year when I was going to the restroom, my classes (particularly near the K buildings) were occasionally interrupted. Our learning environment is being tainted one way or another! I sincerely hope this issue is brought to the district's attention and absorbed completely for the sake of not only IHS staff but us the IHS students.

I go to Kipp, and I wish I didn't only because recently it has become such a hassle getting to and leaving school. Sports is becoming very difficult because of the times all the school are practicing. It's not fair for all of us. And ACE shouldn't even be have came onto the campus. There was already limited room and now there is none because of them. They're campus is a parking lot. They took our parking lot and made commuting the worst thing in the morning. It's not like they're a good school anyways, I say take ACE and DCP out, and we'll be fine.

I am an alumni and my little cousin goes to Independence High School as a Sophomore. This school needs to be safe for everyone. Please update and make changes for the better of the school and community. This is a great school to be at and it can be a better one with all the changes acquired.

It is not an acceptable proposal; it's an infringement on the integrity we've worked so hard to create on our campus at IHS.

This is crazy. IHS students should get priority over charter schools.

It is wonderful to see that within the petition itself there are possible solutions being proposed. I hope a solution that will benefit all involved will come soon.

After leaving this high school and moving on with my life, I have seen many changes and difficulties going around the campus. After all three charter schools came into the campus, it's been hard for everyone attending independence high school.

We went to the board meeting in December, and it was a waste of time. They skip us, and keep moving the schedule around. We was there for 3+ hours. If that is the way the board usually operates unfortunately nothing will be accomplished except what they want to!!!
