Impact of Independence HS sharing with 3 Charter Schools

Charter schools should not impact established public school facilities and undermine the efficacy of said programs. Charters need to provide for their own facilities.

I attend KIPP and I do understand the problem of the athletic facilities. It would be great to have REAL campus and not have to deal with such a tight and insufficient campus.

As a current enrolled student at the neighboring charter school named KIPP San Jose Collegiate, I do have some allegations against this petition. First of all, many arguments made in this petitions do not apply with KSJC. At KSJC all students are disciplined and monitored at all times, so there is no way that we are able to engage in activities stated in this petition. KIPP San Jose Collegiate is ranked 79th NATIONALLY and 13th in CALIFORNIA. These statistics prove that we provide rigorous and extensive discipline. In addition, we have been in session as a charter school next to Independence since 2008 and this has never been a problem until NOW. The real problem is with the additional charter schools of DCP and Ace Charter School that have been just recently added to the campus. These charters school should deserve to stay because of their education opportunities that are provided to kids. Since charter schools do significantly better than public schools they should deserve to stay in order to provide future students the vital education they need. Education is the NUMBER ONE PRIORITY.

As an alumni, I still stand with my younger friends who have to deal with this. Got my full support !

You guys should help Pegasus high school instead, there are at least helping many young adults that have a notice their mistakes and are headed in the right direction .

Although this high school is capable of holding more students than most, I believe that sharing with three other charter schools isn't fair. There is conflict with the students and this should be solved.

You need to feel safe to have a successful educational experience.

Not to mention the amount of work that the child nutritionist habe to do every day. Prepping meals for ober 4000 students is incredibly difficult epsecially when multiple workers aren't recieving their legal breaks.

Before reading this, I had only heard a few things here and there about the impact that not one, BUT THREE charter schools have created. This, itself, along with what I've just read, is unacceptable.

When I attended Independence there were over 4000 students. There were fights and issues on a daily basis, but I could not imagine having to share the campus (classrooms and facilities ) with 3 other schools on different schedules. That sounds like a horrible high school experience. As a parent I would not want my child to be in a chaotic environment like this. I feel for all of the students and staff members and hope that these issues get resolved sooner than later.

I don't like how there taking everything from us when we have the right to have education just like them they vandalized and they are rude to people including me at one point. Their taking our building they have bad aditude.They broke the stalls in one of our Boy bathrooms taking wire and breaking the doors for the stalls being rude to our very nice principal ms. Castro Stanley and Mr. Burg and rude to the students I want them gone or something I can't learn in these conditions. Please take care of this issue Sincerely Matthew R

Overcrowding has been an issue with IHS, and at this rate, we might as well have outdoor lectures.
