As a former student of Indepedence High (c/o 2003) this is unacceptable! I participated in band and had so many opportunities that no longer seem to be a reality. This is severely disheartening and unacceptable. I worry for my former teachers, current students and community with which myself and my family continue to live in and are thus directly affected.

Independence High School is a big school but we are already housing 3 different charter schools, adding one more will make it much worse. Think about the teachers and how this new charter school will affect them. Think of the students and the athletics having to practice at 8pm. Think of the setbacks this project will cause. It will not benefit everyone as a whole.

It is crazy to think that a school that is already a huge size is being overpopulated with more schools. It is unfair that students and teachers have to share facilities.

I wish that the charter schools would be limited to 3 schools or less and that some would even be removed if necessary. I find it that the board of supervisors do not understand the condition of students on this school campus if they want to even build another charter school on Independence High school campus. I hope that another charter school would not be built.

Knowing my little brother is going to be attending Independence for the 2016-2017 year, I would like him to be in a safe environment while having quality time for his basketball practices since he is going to be joining the team.

This makes me upset as a special needs paraprofessional. I've seen the decline of educational support. This needs to change.

Dear East Side Community, students, parents staff and IHS alumni,
Thank you for the support. There will be a town meeting today Jan 7th, 2016 @ 3:30pm in C - commons. I believe only 2 board members are to be there. The district will talk about their plan.
If you can make it, show the district and board members community support.
Thanks!
Much love Sophia

This is in fact is not a lie and is very true. I am an alumni of this dear school and felt it really uncomfortable to share one school then which was the previous charter school called " Maczsa" I could just imagine how much more uncomfortable it is now with two more schools added.

As a concerned citizen. I am asking that facilities are added to support the four high schools and that a African American Centered Charter School will be a future consideration in the ESUHSD.
Thank you,

The charters schools are supposed to be promised "unused" facilities. However, with the surplus of charter schools, students, and afterschool groups, I don't see how any facilities of ours are "unused."

I graduated from IHS in 2010, San Jose State University in 2015, and will be starting my PhD this year at NYU School of Medicine. I greatly attribute my academic success to the resources available at IHS and strong academic programs while I was there. Sharing with 3 charter schools will diminish the effectiveness of these resources and should carefully be reconsidered.
