Charter can serve a purpose, however, there is a limit. SJUSD needs to stop the money grab

I really hate that the district is being really cheap about adding yet ANOTHER school. We already have enough problems with our own school and now we get more.

As parent of an IHS student, I agree that the district needs to urgently address all the concerns raise in this petition.

As a parent and resident of this neighborhood. The charter schools need to go elsewhere. As an alumni of IHS, the school wasnt big enough in 1995.

I have a child in 4th grade that will be attending IHS. I will not let him go to IHS. If things don't change.

The campus should belong to Independence only.

As a third year student at Independence High, having to share the campus with other schools has made my daily experience more hectic. Walking to class and making way for long lines of kids from the charter schools is inconvenient, and sharing facilities makes it difficult for us to schedule school events. It also is extremely hard for the PE teachers, sports teams, etc. because they're required to share all of the facilities as well. It would be great to get the campus back to how it used to be. It's way too cramped, and fights are more likely to occur.

I can not believe that a school of already 4000+ students is sharing a campus with 3 other schools! This is ridiculous and not a healthy environment for learning.

Recent open house Independence had, I had noticed that the rooms are getting much smaller than when I had last went (last year and the year prior) and the times that I had gone for my eldest, whom graduated 5 years ago. My kids complain about smoking and marijuana in the restrooms. Of course safety is always the concern for all of us. However, there is a need of improvement of the school's repairs and all but if we all had fought so long to control the ratio of teachers per student, that does not mean to decrease the space or spaces they need in order to learn. Would that be more of a fire hazard to go around tight fitted desks and tables? We all want a good and or better education for kids, charter, private or public. I just don't understand why we still have to "squeeze" in a corner to provide them the education they need and pretend it is okay that its done in a cubicle.

It is our school for Independence to decide whether or not we share and since we are high school students we need the space and large environment to develop and grow.

My friends had told me that inde did not have a good security system therefore people can cut school etc. this is bad at piedmont we have staff members around the school i also heard that most of the charter schools taker up to much space and is invading into the inde territory and bullying people and starting fights so i would like to sign this petition

Independence's resources are already stretched with JUST their own students. In other words, they have enough problems as it is. What the **** do you expect when there are MORE students using Independence's resources? It used to be just KIPP, but now there's THREE(?!) charter schools using IHS's facilities? We're fighting fire with fire here. It just doesn't work. Whoever allowed this situation to become like this should pick some boots and their favorite song and find a new job.
