Immediate Reinstatement of Randy Burgess

Coach Burgess has been and will continue to be one of the most influential people in my life.

Lot of good memories of coach burg. Give the kids the same opportunity.

I played water polo for Navy AC. Every summer in middle school through high school we would travel to Coronado prior to big SoCal tournaments. Coach always welcomed us to train with the Coronado water polo team. He always offered help/advice, set up surfing lessons for us, and is one of the most hospitable people I’ve ever met. He is a great coach and an outstanding man.

A great man and a great coach. Reinstate Coach Burgess and lose the political driven witch hunt. Voters of Coronado unite and throw out those that restrict due process.

Randy coached my daughters at water polo camps and clinics over the years. He should be reinstated immediately.

We miss Randy form the deck. I hope he can come back and share his knowledge and experience with athletes and coaches.

In the forty years I have known Mr. Randy Burgess, his professional working demeanor has exemplified the best of all positive educators and coaches. His Stull Act evaluations probably reflect the same high quality of teaching and coaching. With that being said, the accusations of assault do not seem even possible as it pertains to Mr. Burgess' employment history. Under the California Education Code, the initial statements of complaint must have created enough concern that the administration of the Coronado Unified School District would have began a complete investigation. Yet no charges have resulted. And, in this situation, due process seems to be none existent. For immediate action, it would seem appropriate that unless other issues are brought forward, Mr. Randy Burgess should be reinstated to "full active duty" with no prejudice. Randy was not only my high school PE coach, he was also the water polo coach to two of my four children. I do not believe these allegations to be true. Reinstate him.

I was coached by and coached with Randy while at the Naval Academy. I worked with Randy locally, while in SEAL training and while active in the Teams. Randy should absolutely be reinstated without hesitation.

I have known Coach Burgess since the late 80s. He beat my team in CIF Finals 3 years in a row. Although he originally was my adversary, I have always held him in high regard and have consulted with him countless times on coaching and teaching tactics. As a current public school teacher I am extremely disappointed with how a teacher/coach of such high regard can be so quickly smeared. Years of hard work, dedicated service, and a stellar resume have been irreversibly compromised, and for what...no evidence?? Unless there is evidence this teacher deserves his job back at the very least.

As former President of US Water Polo - Hawaii I worked with Randy for 35 years in connection with the annual Hawaiian Invitational Water Polo Tournament. He and his players conducted themselves with honor and decorum in each every tourney game in Honolulu. Randy deserves the respect and honor of all who are reviewing this case. I fully believe that he will be vindicated and reinstated as a coach and teacher at Coronado. Aloha, John Nielsen.

My daughter was coached by Randy and coached with Randy. In my opinion he is an outstanding person. Only great memories of him and his program.

Randy coached all four of my children for many many years. He's an outstanding coach and I do not think he is guilty of what he's been accused. Please reinstate him immediately with a big apology from the district. As a former teacher at CUSD, I am out raged that they would do this without proof and cannot understand why this investigation has taken so much time.

Do the right thing, CUSD. Give this great coach and teacher his job back!

I have known Randy Burgess for over 3o years since I was 16. He is an asset to Coronado. He should be respected and admired. Accusations should be well researched. Shame on the trigger-finger staff who made the decision to remove Randy Burgess.

No person deserves to be treated like Mr Burgess has been treated! The CUSD Superintendent and ASuperintendent were very careless in their actions. A public apology must be given to such a respected teacher/coach/member of the Coronado community! Shame on you CUSD!
