Immediate Reinstatement of Randy Burgess

Reinstate him immediately! He is a great community influence. This is nonsense. We got your back, Coach!

The Farrells have personally known Randy for nearly 20 years. Our three youngest sons all were in his program from middle school through high school. My husband and I were actively involved in every fundraiser, was an ISF representative, and chaperoned for over 12 years nearly every water polo outing . Our life was water polo during those years. I totally trusted Randy with my sons because we closely observed him as a coach, teacher and mentor in those years. After our water polo days both he and Claire have remained dear friends of the Farrell family. So to see what has unfolded breaks my heart! Furthermore, as an educator for over 20 years with CUSD it seriously concerns me and many of my colleges. If someone like Randy is treated this way, there is no value or protection for the rest of us dedicated teachers.

My son played for Randy while at CHS. Top shelf coach in every regard. He played countless matches and traveled in the summers to Romania and Hawaii , places where Burgess' reputation was also held in the highest regard. My oldest daughter graduated CHS and our younger daughter is a freshman. They have nothing but positive comments about Randy. Reinstate him now. Innocent until proven guilty.

I am absolutely floored at how this school board has treated this situation. I grew up with Mr Burgess. I graduated with a handful of Gold Medal Olypians representing the USA because of Mr Burgess. Really Coronado Unified School District?

Randy Burgess was a great influence on our sons lives when they swam and played water polo at CHS. He continued to mentor them after they graduated. Both sons serve our country honorably: One is a Navy SEAL; the other is an officer with the Merchant Marines. It was a privilege to have him as their coach. It is beyond belief that he would jeopardize his reputation. I have complete confidence in his innocence! Please give him respect and due-process with regard to the unsubstantiated allegations of this young girl.

I support Mr. Burgess in his effort to achieve due process of law. If Mr. Burgess is innocent of claims brought against him then it is incumbent upon the CUSD to reinstate him to his prior position and make every effort to publicly clear his name of wrongdoing.

I am a parent of a former player, he played 3 years for Randy with the Islanders and they won CIF, he also played for him in summer programs. We have the utmost respect for Randy and his family. It is ashamed that a man of his caliber must endure these unfounded allegations. What he has done for Coronado and and Water Polo is amazing. To drag this good man and his family through this ordeal is mind blowing. CUSD has exposed itself to some huge liability. Reinstate Randy NOW!!

Randy was my Coach and I would trust him with my kids. He taught me many valuable lessons about being accountable and having integrity. He’s one of the best teachers and coaches in the world!!!

I have know Randy since 1992, when my family was re-stationed in Coronado, just in time for me to start 6th grade. I ended up being one of the 16 CIF San Diego Section Players of the year, helping to bring one to the 19 CIF titles to Coronado High School. Randy's mentoring from 1992 through my graduation in 1999 was a major reason I was able to accepted to every university (except Stanford #BeatStanfod) that I applied to; as well as getting me a scholarship to play water polo at The University of California at Berkeley. My education at Berkeley, led me to getting my Master's Degree at San Diego state, which has led me onto the career path that I am currently on.

I coached at Newport Harbor High School for 50 years and was the head Men's Olympic Coach in 1988 and 1992. I have known Randy for over 30 years. He is a great coach and a great person and certainly should not be treated in such a vile manner.

Please treat Mr. Burgess with dignity and respect. Investigate before condemn. "Paid administrative leave" is NOT a desirable long term condition for any productive and active professional, but a stressful and uncertain time. Please do your job as leaders of our schools and community, address the situation and clearly communicate your actions. We believe in your ability to lead and this is the time to rise up and do so. Thank you for protecting our children daily. Please treat Mr. Burgess, one of our district employees and an honorable member of our community, with the same decency.

As an educator in this school district, this issue is extremely concerning to me and my colleagues. Teachers in this district deserve to be respected and treated fairly. We should receive a greater level of support from our CUSD board and administrators, something which is currently lacking in this case.

This is ridiculous

I am a former national team athlete coached by Randy Burgess. I have always known him to be demanding coach but very caring and willing to help me succeed. Please clear his name of this terrible accusation!

Our family has known and shared many positive experiences with Randy Burges since he began at CUHD. He totally deserves to be reinstated back to his staff position and duties. Sincerely, Steve Serna

My father and I have both played under coach Randy Burgess. He has made us the men we are today and I have nothing but positivite thoughts for that man.
