Randy has always been an asset to the school and every student fortunate enough to work with him. He is one of the most positive influences in a world of negativity.

Randy does not deserve this drama...he worked hard for our kids putting them in the best possible position for success. I was at everything and he was tough but very professional.

In the 20 years I have known Mr Burgess he has never been anything less than a stalwart citizen and role model for everyone around him. It is a sad indictment of our society that insurance litigation has far more influence than true social justice.

There are laws and rules in place to protect the students as a priority. There are also rules in place for proper procedure in order to also protect staff as necessary. As no charges have been filed, and actually any attempt have been summarily dismissed, it's obvious that an egregious overreach has taken place. CUSD has ignored these collectively bargained rules, procedures, and protocols when they arbitrarily dismissed them in this instance. Myself, along with everyone else signed herein, demand immediate reinstatement for Mr. Randall Burgess.

I am the parent of a current student and two grads, each of whom had the good fortune to be coached and guided by Randy Burgess for the past 15 years. We know that our family is blessed to have received from this caring man dedicated to coaching our youth, hours spent teaching lessons through sports & teamwork on how to work to get over that "bar set high" . The benefits our young adults have gained in goal-setting, achieving or adapting as one goes forward, and working with friends and players at all talent levels will (and have) carried our kids through many challenges successfully.

I am an attorney that specializes in personal injury and tort matters. This fact pattern is riddled with holes and unfair accusations. I'm saddened to see the school district forget how this country's judicial processes properly work. To unfairly and unjustly destroy a persons livelihood and deprive them of the pursuit of happiness is wrong and unlawful.

Due process and the principle that one is innocent until proven guilty is paramount to our justice system. That may not be true in the court of public opinion, which is guided by a number of external factors both legitimate and illegitimate, but it should certainly hold true in regards to the actions of a public, government funded institution such as a public school. Please hold true to our stated values and reinstate Mr. Burgess.

I have known this teacher as a coach (MY coach decades ago), as a teacher for my senior and a coach for my middle schooler. Give the man back his job. Awesome teachers are hard to come by and inspiring coaches are a dime a dozen. Randy is both.

Randy Burgess was one of my favorite teachers at Coronado High School. He teaches students how to win, and live a life that strives them to be the best in the classroom and in the pool. - Class of 2015 Jackson Accetta

I am a water polo coach in Florida, and I have known Randy for 30 years. As a high school teacher and coach, I know your reputation is one of your few rewards. Please look closely at the reasons for your decision and reinstate Randy Burgess.

As a former resident of Coronado, passionate water polo fan, and Navy SEAL Officer, I’ve had the privilege of knowing a Randy Burgess for 8 years. In that time, he’s shown himself to be nothing but kind, generous, and helpful. I’ve personally practiced with the Coronado High School Boys Water Polo Team—with Randy Burgess present—and witnessed nothing but fantastic coaching. Randy cares deeply about the kids he works with and, in my opinion, would never do anything inappropriate with them. If you have any questions or would like to discuss further, please call my cell at 708-261-1280.

It seems that board members and the superintendent over reacted without a moments care or thought about the harm they caused by over-reacting. Without due process? Seems all employees of the district could have his situation happen to them at any time. Time for some training for the Board and Superintendent or a reshuffle. The reinstatement of Mr. Burgess appears to be the least this board could do. Step up to the plate. The honor of this very good man needs to be restored. Reinstatement should be the first step.
