Randy was my coach at Mesa College. Not only a great coach, he's a great person and mentor. I can't phathom what he's going through, however the district needs to do the right thing, and reinstate Coach Burgess.

He was one of my favorite teachers and coaches during my time at CHS and CMS. Mr. Burgess deserves to be reinstated!

I most earnestly request that Randy Burgess be reinstated as a coach and teacher! He was a superb teacher and water polo coach for both my son and daughter when attending Coronado High.

Please reinstate this outstanding Teacher and Coach. The administrative process to put him on leave with pay was not followed correctly and he should be reinstated immediately. Thank you

Mr. Burgess has been and remains to be one of the most impactful people in my life. His leadership and initiative in both Coronado aquatics and high school fitness programs is noteworthy and commendable. I have nothing but positive regard for Mr. Burgess and his overall influence on the Coronado Community.

My life would not have been the same without him as a teacher and a coach. I am forever grateful.

I could understand paid admin leave and removed from his position IF a grievance or charges were filed or forthcoming. However, this is not the case and a reputation continues to suffer and probably will never be restored. That blame lies squarely on the CUSD leadership. Doing the right thing is usually much harder and demands courage; time to do the right thing and reinstate his position and start to help him recover...way past due. We depend on leadership to set a good example; so far, this has been an ill-advised foray into a witch hunt where no substance exists. Time to be professionals and do much better.

I went/played water polo at LJHS, but Burgess was always a coach that I, and the rest of my team, looked up to just as much as Atwell. He is an amazing human who has nothing but love for his students/players and is one of the most passionate people I’ve ever seen coach.

This situation was handled poorly by school administration, with a lack of communication and leadership.

I have known Randy Burgess for over 30 years as a coach and friend, and the sport of water polo is a family and very close. Randy has had an unbelievable reputation for treating all of his students and athletes with compassion and care throughout his teaching and coaching career, and his reputation has been consistent and well know throughout the water polo coaching community. I have coached on the high school, community college and now the university level, and I have never interacted with a more positive role model for his students and athletes. I can only hope that the financial pressure to protect a school district will not be allowed to continue to tarnish and negatively affect the life and coaching history of someone like Randy. I played for Burgess for 8 years of my life. He taught me and countless others lessons that we carry with us everyday. I can say without a doubt he has been the single biggest influence in my life. He has done nothing but good for our community, just because there are allegations, nothing has been proven and it is not right to just take him out of class. It actually doesn't sound legal, but instead of standing with a man who has done nothing but give back to the community of coronado, you have left him hung out to dry.
