Randy Burgess is one of the best things that has happened to our school district and to our town. Give the man his life back. He deserves so much better than this. The district should be defending him, not ostracizing him.

Mr. Burgess was one of my teachers when I attended Coronado schools in the 1990s and he has been a colleague of mine for the past 19 years that I have been teaching at Coronado High School. He has had a more significant impact on students than any colleague I can think of. Most teachers spend an hour a day with any given student and that hour each day is a teacher's window to change a life. Randy invented a better way to make a difference in the lives of students. He demanded a level of excellence from them that included showing up early in the mornings (5AMish) and again in the afternoon or evening. Randy created a system where he had hours per day to bring out the very best in his students, and that is exactly what he got out of them. So many of his former students are speaking out now because of this system of commitment to one another, and I hope we will honor this culture that Randy has helped to create by standing by him now. It is time to reinstate Randy. The longer the CUSD waits to do the right thing, the more negative the consequence are, to all of us. Please adopt a sense of urgency in this matter post haste.

I am a CHS alum, parent of two CHS water polo playing alumnae, and daughter of former CUSD board member. I have been following this issue and feel strongly that in spite of actions taken to date in good faith, immediate reinstatement of Coach Burgess needs to happen. This would go far in preventing further damage to both the school and the coach's reputation.

All three of my children matriculated through all components of CUSD; two played for Randy...and he had deep, positive influences on their lives.
I implore the Board to support this man and the rest of the faculty by standing tall against the current hysteria.

Randy is a diamond, among the jewels of Coronado educators. He is unparalleled in his dedication, compassion and genuine care for Coronado's youth. He taught me the hardest lessons of my life; accountability, self-reflection and perseverance. The CUSD needs to swiftly rectify this situation and reinstate Mr.Burgess into the classroom immediately. I stand with Randy, today and everyday.

Burgess has been a positive influence for us in the water polo world. His experience as a coach and leader has made leaders all over the United States. We here on the east coast have benefited from his expertise and friendship and we want you to know he has our support.

The key word I'd like to emphasize is association. Especially this false association with little or no evidence. Randy Burgess has always been a positive influence upon myself as well as many athletes i have idolized as a youth. SHAME ON CUSD for their actions and inability to provide a fair and reasonable approach to remedy this. My mother was a principal in the district for 15+ years, what does family even mean then? intolerable.
