Randy was an integral part of my development. He thought me what it means to be committed to my teammates and myself. He was an amazing coach and leader and I have him to thank for a lot of the values I have today as well as the open doors that water polo gave me. I am truely grateful. It is horrible what is going on and completely wrong how he was treated on so many levels especially when anyone who has ever worked with him would be able to tell you that these alogations are completely fauls and have no merit.

Over the course of four years as a water polo athlete. Randy Burgess taught me everything that I needed to know to be successful Naval Officer. He is without a doubt, one of the finest mentors of young people that I’ve ever met and he deserves better. I fully support his immediate reinstatement as an educator and coach.

I have know Randy for over 40 years. This action by the school district is absolutely without cause. Randy needs to be reinstated and absolved of all charges immediately.

Randy Burgess has been a great coach and teacher for many years! I have taught with him for 30 plus years! He was the person that got our daughter, Shelby in the pool her freshman year and taught her the game of water polo and life lessons that Shelby continues to live by today! Thank you Randy! I stand by you!

CUSD governing board members, please reinstate Randy Burgess immediately. Failure to do so will force the community to do everything in its power to see this through until we reach this conclusion.

I have known Mr. Burgess for 31 years and can attest to his unmatched integrity and professionalism. I echo all of the sentiments posted on this petition; the CUSD board needs to remedy this injustice now.

After all Coach Burgess has done for our students, families and our community, I believe we owe him fair treatment and reinstatement as a teacher and a coach.

I played for Randy from 6th grade through 12th and coached with him for a summer. Through the thousands of hours I spent with Randy I have nothing but praise for him. In all my years around the sport and meeting other coaches and athletes from top age group clubs and high school programs, I have to say that Randy is the best developmental coach there is in this sport. I've been saying that for over 10 years, and it's not because he's produced multiple Olympians or countless collegiate athletes or scores of championship teams. It's because of the character of the athletes that walk away from Coronado water polo. What separates Randy is that he coaches student athletes to become young adults. The success of his teams and successes of many of his athletes are just by-products of Randy's master plan. In my opinion, Randy's ultimate goal has always been to teach kids how to be winners in life, not on the scoreboard. Teamwork, humility, accountability, and selflessness, are all things that won't show up on the scoreboard and definitely not in a box score, but they were always there in every single practice and every game I played under coach Burgess. If I had a kid at CHS right now and he/she was missing the opportunity to receive an education from coach Burgess I would be livid. No offense to the other educators, but can honestly say that I learned more from Randy Burgess than I did from rest of the faculty combined. Do the right thing and clear his name and get him back to what he does best!

I am a teacher of seventeen years and four of those were spent teaching in CUSD. The schools in which I felt effective as a teacher were the schools where the staff works as a team and the administration supports the teachers. That was Jeff's philosophy and it made CUSD an awesome place to work (and this is reflected in student performance.) It is apparent that the current administration is not standing behind its teachers. When I was in Officer Training School at Lackland, our major told us fifty times a day, "Take care of your people, and your people will take care of you!" I have embraced that mentality ever since and I feel that CUSD needs to heed the major's advice.
