Coach Burgess made a positive impact on my son's life while he was a student @ CHS. After Lettering in Water Polo and competitive swimming he went on to be a Beach Lifeguard, coached Junior Lifeguards throughout college.
What ever happened to the presumption of innocence until conviction?

It’s commendable that the Superintnendent, assistant superintendent and board are protecting the studentry... I hope that’s the basis of their action, and not just to cover their behinds.
We expect fairness, accountability and transparency from this elected officials.
Coach Burgess was not only an inspiration to his students, but also to the parents.
The school board and CHS leadership should IMMEDIATELY reinstate scotch Burgess, and apologize to him and the Coronado community for this disservice they are causIng.

My son spent 4 years with Randy. Coach Burgess was his teacher and coach. I have a great deal of respect for the level of effort Randy puts into supporting and challenging his teams and his students. Regardless of whether he was a first year teacher or the highly respected and tenured faculty that he is, he deserves due process. Everyone does. This is hurting our community and undermines the trust we put in the school board.

I trained with Randy back in the 90s and he has always been a coach that pushed his athletes to do their best. He has never displayed any signs of physical aggression to any of his players. Truly one of the best!

As a fellow teacher, this treatment of our community’s highly esteemed senior staff teacher is very concerning. I’m not sure I would feel comfortable working for a district that might disrespect me in such a way. Mr. Burgess has committed his life to instilling core values in our kids. He deserves better!

Randy's integrity is impeccable. The actions and lack of actions by CUSD are inexcusable. Truly disappointing to see a local hero ( or any CUSD employee!) treated this way. Randy gave our kids life tools that they carry proudly. We are honored to be on this list to support his reinstatement.

I played water polo for Coach Burgess outside of coronado’s Programs, assisted him in coaching, have raced triathlons with him, and have known him for 20 years. For a non-Coronado native, I would say I have spent quite a bit of time with him. He is a man of the utmost integrity and character, and that he has maintained this 100% of the time. He is good natured, nurturing and a strong role model. I stand with him, support him and cannot advocate strongly and sincerely enough for his full reinstatement.
