Midwives are needed now/everywhere, especially when hospitals are exhausted by COVID-19, and expecting parents are anxious and terrified for their lives.

Research and the voices of our families support this step to increase access to out of hospital birth for healthy, low risk clients. This includes the outlined redistribution of resources and removal of unnecessary barriers to make out of hospital practices safe and sustainable. It is due time we put the health and well-being of our community before the economic gains of the medical industrial complex.

I believe that there’s are pros and cons that come with this but more pros. We must remember the insurance companies went along with doctors when they unlicensed the granny midwives.

After witnessing two home births and the true professionalism of the midwife and her staff they are more proficient then any hospital. Home birth needs to be covered by these medical professionals.

Give the midwifes the space and opportunity! They already have the skills . I mean what’s the hold up !?! They need to be stationed to do work not fighting for their relevance at this time of need !

These providers are trained professionals and should be recognized, licensed, and given the ability to bill insurance companies as they can in MANY other states including NJ
