I am one of the ones amount many women who are on MA and financially unable to afford a midwife for an at home birth experience. I believe this is something that should be covered by medical assistance and would be something that would alleviate hospitals which are over crowded at the moment from having to take on pregnant patients who would much rather be at home anyway.

Woman should have this option under their insurance because everyone isn't able to afford home birth & having a home birth isn't an option. Hospitals take away women rights while giving birth & it's not intimate as a home birth. Home births are about the mother & child while hospitals are about getting the baby out as fast as possible while putting the baby & mother in danger. I had three deliveries & all of them felt rushed.

I know so many people who want this service but it is not covered by insurance so they cannot afford it. There are many reasons why someone would not want to birth in a hospital, including personal trauma. Please take this action to decrease the cost of medical care in general, as many if not most births could take place in less intensive environments, and as birthing parents deserve the right to choose the setting in which they give birth.

CPMs are not only qualified but are incredible, brilliant, empowering, and kind. They work hard to help create the birth space that their clients want and facilitate a safe and calm birth.

Please pass this, please allow Certified Professional Midwives to receive 100% insurance reimbursement. Midwifery care has excellent outcomes, costs 1/6 that of uncomplicated hospital births and keeps the healthy public from inundating hospitals unnecessarily.

Women should have options for quality home care to include delivery their children at home where they feel safer. A calmer mother makes for a better labor and delivery.

Due to the COVID19 pandemic, it is even more important at this time to offer licensure to CPM.

I gave birth with a midwife and doula in the hospital. I was glad for the emergency backup if needed, but I also was not worried a pandemic at that time. I feel very confident I would have had a safe and supported birth at home with this same team. If anything, the hospital system interfered with my otherwise very normal and beautiful birth. During this pandemic, I feel that people who do not need to be in the hospital for birth have access to competent professionals who are trained to support and facilitate birth at home. Emergency licensure for CPMs!
