The member had zero intent to cause any harm or incite fear. He engaged in a common form of exercise as part of a training program to better himself. There was never any real risk, only perceived risk by ignorant individuals. There are no victims except for the one innocent individual who is being framed as a pariah of society. If more people took their jobs as seriously as this person and demonstrated such dedication to self improvement we might not have such an inefficient society. Lets use our legal system to penalise those who pose a genuine risk or who have perpetrated crimes with real victims. Context is everything.

As a former soldier I find this an absolute disgrace. A warning would of been sufficient.

I served 15yrs ADF and am disappointed with Qld police for the treatment this 'brother in arms' is receiving considering that some of Qld police ranks are Ex-ADF personnel.

I think law enforcement should perhaps concentrate on drugs, violence, B&E, homicide, or in brief concentrate on catching the bad guys. This is an Australian soldier trying to better himself.

Why is it, when this is done for real the perp only receives a slight tap on the wrist whereas this bloke is being made sure to be dragged through the mud with the intention of every last bit to have stuck to him and what hasn't been stuck is being nailed to him.

As a former soldier and a current Detective in another state I am absolutely gob smacked that he was charged! Is it in the publics best interest to proceed with the matter - No. Was there intent to commit an offence - No! Who was the peanut who endorsed the charge???
