Ignacio Schools: Protect Our Kids, Not Your Image

There has never been accountability in the Ignacio school district. Starting at the top, from the superintendent to the teachers!! It has always been all based on cliques, who knows who and who you’re related to.

Fire this teacher. This student shouldn't have made to feel bad for grieving because the teachers backward way of thinking.

My son has this teacher for 2 classes. I do not want him in her class period.

This is unacceptable behavior in a classroom. We are hoping that a full investigation into this teachers behavior is conducted and we are in support of an immediate school board meeting being held to here concerns about this teacher from parents and community members.

We need to make our children feel safe and mocking their grief or their beliefs is something us parents won’t stand for!

Our Children Deserve Better Our children deserve classrooms where empathy, safety, and respect are non-negotiable. We, as parents and community members, demand action now.

What a disgusting, hateful teacher to mock something so tragic! Remove this teacher from the school!!

We didn't have her in the classroom, but she showed behavior like this as a head coach for volleyball. Unacceptable.

Her actions are not fit for the 6 pillars the school pushes the students to follow. If you expect them to follow those pillars than so too do the teachers need to follow them. Teachers are to teach critical thinking and facts. Not bully and emotionally stunt the students.

My children don’t go to the school with this teacher, but do attend school in Ignacio, and I am appalled that any child in this small town should have their feelings belittled by a teacher.

To stop the hate let’s start in our schools. Teaching it’s okay to talk about these things and be sad! We need to start with our children to better the world. It’s okay to have these conversations with friends and colleagues and still have respect for them!

I have had many problems with this person, in the past, and it was always clear what her political abuse were. First of all if the children in your class know your political views you have failed as a teacher.! most importantly, mocking someone’s death laughing at it, or making light is unacceptable and firing is the only answer.

Not acceptable

Teachers need to keep their personal beliefs out of the classroom. And anytime a child is upset about another person being killed the teacher should show compassion in every way.

As a former educator myself, I am beyond disgusted by Ms. Benavidez choice to mock a student instead of supporting a youth that was sharing their grief.

It needs to stop !

This absolutely needs to be looked into

Horrible behavior by a teacher.

A teacher is there to teach , not mock or have political sides. Remove her immediately.
