At present there is no employment law for infertility test/treatment. I am starting a campaign for the Government to include Infertility tests/treatments in the employment law to enable time of for such. I would like it to be along the same lines as the present maternity rights guidelines this includes time of for appointments. I have had to use my annual leave and my husband had to resign due to not being allowed time of for Egg Recovery. I am sure many of you face this dilema each day and I want to put this to the house of commons. Thank you for participating.

Updates

February 23, 2006

The stories shared in the comments section reveal how many of you have had to sacrifice personal time or career stability to manage medical appointments. I am currently reaching out to parliamentary offices to ensure this struggle is understood by those who hold the power to revise employment policies. Your experiences are the foundation of this work and they confirm that we are asking for a necessary adjustment to current law.

Seeing this momentum grow confirms that the struggle to balance medical care with career stability is a shared burden rather than an isolated hardship. Each story left in the comments reinforces why we need these policy changes to protect those currently navigating such a difficult path.

Ridiculous that we have to burn all our vacation time just to go to medical appointments. Bosses need to be more understanding.

Long overdue. My wife and I went through hell with scheduling and it put so much strain on us financially.

Yes please. It is a medical proceedure not a holiday.

This is so needed. I lost so much pay having to take days off for ivf appointments and it just makes an already stressful time even worse.

My wife had to lie about why she was off to avoid issues at work. This would help so many couples.

Been there. My employer was so cold about it. Nobody should have to choose between their job and trying to start a family.
