This smelter belongs does not belong in an area that has so many natural resources it will adversely affect.

This area would be devastated if there were any contamination from spills, not to mention the health affects on people. Find a pre-existing industrial area.

My wife and I camp near Newport/Oldtown every year in June. We come to enjoy the fresh air and watch the eagles, ospreys, herons, and other wildlife. I am devastated that this area will become a silicon smelting site spewing toxins into the air and ground water. I am outraged that the local and state government is encouraging this to happen. If you're reading this then I urge you to sign this petition and be heard. FIGHT BACK against corporate greed and irreparable harm to our natural resources and wildlife. Do not let Newport, WA and Oldtown, ID become Hinkley, CA in 1993. We do not need an Erin Brokovich to stand up for us, WE MUST STAND UP FOR OURSELVES! Sign the petition and be heard.

We bought and remodeling our dream home in Idaho, just miles from the proposed site. You can only imagine our hearts breaking when we learned about this potential site for a smelter! NO THANKS. This is not what we invested here for!

Keep this high pollution business out of our pristine area. It's a death trap for adults and children alike. Why do businesses such as this think they know better than the citizens what is good for them? 150 jobs will not make up for the damage that will be done for years to come. We moved from a high-pollution state and don't want our beautiful area turned into the same thing. It's just too dangerous for people and wildlife.

Heavy industrial requirement for water makes this plant a non starter. Try again somewhere else. Earth's filling up, boys.

We live at Priest Lake in the summer, Washington in the winter and have researched this technology. The jobs this company creates are for the most part temporary. Long-term they are small in numbers. The fact they pushed this through with little public involvement in the initial stages is concerning. Their changing of facts regarding the number of jobs and the amount of water they will need demonstrates they can't be trusted. What we have learned about the amount of water they will actually use, as well as the air and possible ground water pollution they will create means this is bad for the entire area! This should be stopped.

No smelter. Just so wrong in so many ways. How can they even consider it?

They are bringing their own crew. There will be no jobs created. A very intense explosion is very possible, wiping out and contaminating a radius of 10 miles of our beautiful area. Just insane to consider putting this smelter in this area next to so many residential houses and schools Our water aqua-fir will be hit hard, never mind the impact to wildlife. No Smelter.

This will be in our backyard. Home values will go down. And what jobs will it create? The company probably will have to bring their own employees that are skilled in this field. And what about human error. No one is perfect and accidents happen. Then where are we contaminated in more ways than one.

As a father of two young children, I wish to raise them in a part of this great country that has not yet been polluted by heavy industry such as this proposed smelter. For my family, a big reason for living in this area is the access to a relatively clean environment for hunting, fishing, hiking, canoeing, gardening and foraging from the landscape.

The few jobs that this will create is not worth it.

This shelter is a severe health hazzard to the entire area, and will totally destroy both the wildlife and natural resources of Washington and Idaho.
