This smelter will cost as many jobs locally as it will create. Our local economy is based on recreation, tourism and timber. 760 tons of Sulfur Dioxide will be emitted per year per Hi Test Sands data submitted. Sulfur Dioxide causes acid rain and deforestation. Not good for the existing businesses and jobs. In addition 700 Tons of Nitrogen Oxides, and 320,000 Tons of greenhouse gas per year as stated in HiTest's Draft PSD Modeling Protocol. Not good for our health or the Real Estate industry.

I've lived in Newport for 20 years now, it has always been a beautiful an clean place to live. If they want to create jobs in our community we can bring in other types of business that will not effect air or water quality in the area.

I do not support this smelter in anyway. This pristine area is meant to be enjoyed for people that love to hunt, boat, swim, fish, water ski, snow ski, garden, bike, etc ect ect! How can one enjoy the outdoors knowing that pollutants will be floating and raining down on men, women, and children? Canada will return to Canada to destroy their own environment and use their own resourses!
Our newly purchased retirement home is located less than a mile from this prospective site. This smelter cannot be allowed to be constructed!

Under no circumstance should permits be issued for this smelter. Proper due diligence has not been performed in regard to water, earth and air pollution. The State of Idaho should be strongly in opposition to the project.

I’m a new resident of the area and feel blessed by the beauty. I’m concerned about spills, accidents, and unknown affects to the health of the people, animals, and environment.
