We love going to the Ida Cox concerts. It's family friendly and people of all ages enjoy attending. It is a great event and I hope you reconsider and add more shows. This effects the whole community, especially the small businesses on Doyle Street that rely on income made during the concerts.

I enjoy Ida Cox music festival on the streets of downtown. My grandchildren enjoy going in the local restaurants eating and dancing. It where the community comes together. I adore The Ritz but being outside is an entirely different experience. It also allows people on a fixed income something to look forward to doing on the weekends. Toccoa doesn’t offer much else in entertainment on a Friday or Saturday night. People enjoy bringing lawn chairs, eating ice cream or something from the bakery with an ice cold drink. Then we know when it ends at end of summer we have high school football. Give the people what they want. If they take away from the streets doesn’t mean people will go anywhere else.

I have been providing sound and lighting for this event for over a decade now. I have poured a lot of sweat into this event, as have many others. Personally, I think the citizens are better served with this amazing event we all have worked so hard to build into what it is today, staying downtown every week. Yes it’s hot, and the weather is always an issue, but it truly is something special that I am so thankful to be a part of.

As a new resident this concert on the street was one of the reasons we chose Toccoa. You do not have the same sense of community in a closed theater and it is not convey to shop while still enjoying the music. Keep it on Doyle… I can see skipping August as it is so hot but all shows should be outside!
