Mumbai generates over 7000 tonnes
of garbage per day. Our dumping grounds are filling up fast. Segregation of dry
and wet waste is soon to going to be a necessity as a starting step to resolve
the solid waste management crisis. Inculcating this habit in citizens is
imminent.
We, at I Clean toh Mumbai Clean, propose
installation of dual dustbins in place of single bins in all public places in
Mumbai city - one for dry (recyclable and non-recyclable) waste and the other
for wet (bio-degradable) waste.
This would reduce waste going to
dumping grounds from public spaces as well as help build the habit of
segregation in people. We need your support to push this cause with the
Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai. Thank you for helping keep the city
clean!
Finally someone said it. The streets are a mess and its high time we start separating waste properly. Everyone talks about the smell at the dump but nobody wants to actually do the work.
