A reintroduced US House bill could stop ICD-10.
Rep Ted Poe (R-Texas) with support from Blake Farenthold (R-Texas), Phil Roe (R-Tennessee), Mike Rogers (R-Alabama), Mo Brooks (R-Alabama), Morgan Griffith (R-Virginia) and Tom Price (R-Georgia) have reintroduced a House bill to block the transition to ICD-10 in October stating it would put an unnecessary strain on the medical community. The incoming president of the AMA is also behind this bill for ICD-10 to not only be delayed, but to completely throw out ICD-10 and wait for the implementation of ICD-11.
As coders - It's time for our voice to be heard on ICD-10.

I am 100% in favor of implementing ICD10. I have been in Medical Billing and Coding since 1991 and many changes have come and gone but MOST of the time they were good useful changes that made our job easier. Anything to better clarify the diagnosis cannot be bad! BRING IT!
