I am a Wilton resident and I strongly support the sensibly proposed mixed-use development at the highly visible intersection of Route 7 and Route 33. Wilton requires new capital investment and now is the time to work closely with interested parties to build our tax base, attract new businesses, and keep our older residents in-town by diversifying our housing stock. My family fully stands behind the town leadership's stated mission of supporting expansion and investment in our town. The Wilton Heights project, as proposed, will provide a significant tax increase for the town on an underutilized property that sits mostly vacant and has been for sale for over ten years. This project will be built by one of the most respected development teams in this region and the property already has town water/sewer, is already zoned for mixed-use construction, and will highlight the connection between Wilton town center and Route 7 for the 30,000 vehicles that pass by each day. The developer is deed restricting 3 1/2 acres for permanent open space which includes all of the onsite wetlands plus more than 2 acres buffering the neighboring properties. More residents in and near our town center means more customers shopping in our shops and dining in our restaurants. Supporting this type of smart development will positively impact Wilton's economic vitality and its future. That is what everyone wants. Lastly, if our Planning & Zoning Department denies this and other viable projects that have merit, then it will be sending a horrible message to the investment community: Stay away from Wilton! Please vote yes and support this project.

I am honestly a bit overwhelmed by the momentum behind this project. It is clearly all of you who are driving this conversation forward because you care about the future of our town. I never expected this kind of response but I am so grateful that so many people see the value in what we are trying to build together.

Have you seen how massive in scale this will be? Has the developer shown you what the view will look like?
What does 'alternative' housing mean? Lets not confuse our requirement to meet the state's statutes for AFFORDABLE housing (which this has NONE) with any other kind of housing.
Wilton is at a juncture. We can stand still, and stay the same, which then moves us backward as compared to other towns, or, we can change as conditions are changing. Let's not let this opportunity pass, I support it, and believe this is the type of project that will enable Wilton to be a vibrant community, rather than one the world is passing.
Not doing it would be a HUGE mistake for building revenue by additional corporate taxpayers and reduce local real estate taxes, and increasing access to the center. Would stem the tide of vacancies currently in Wilton Center, which is substantial.
This is exactly what the POCD consultants have been discussing; mixed use development with alternative housing. Also serves to visibility of Wilton Center to Rt 7 traffic ... this can only be beneficial for retailers and restaurants.
I support this development!

I support and hope to see this project completed for the revival of our town which is suffering in a stagnant state with problems such as empty retail spaces and decreasing residential real estate values.
