Physical Therapists Opposed to OrthoNet Business Practices

I am signing this petition because I am a CRPS patient. I have been having Physical therapy to regain my balance and retrain my brain. This therapy has helped me a great deal and I really need to continue it.

Patients have the right to receive benefits and services as prescribed by their doctor. Now because of Orthonet they can be denied of these services, an excuse to have patients not receive the treatment necessary for their well being so they will not have to pay expenses that to them is unnecessary, which is truly not true

This will severely impact patient care, patient satisfaction, and result in extended care due to lapses caused by the approval process.

Please stop this unfair practice to patients who pay for and then do not receive necessary and prescribed physical therapy

The rising cost of insurance premiums, decreasing reimbursement, and the rationing of care to patients appears to benefit only the insurance companies. I am sure you can agree there is something wrong with this picture.

Physical Therapist have gone through intense training and are capable of making the correct choices for the patients care, we do not need any middlemen dictating our services.

OrthoNet is not good for patients or clinics. I strongly oppose.

Patients deserve access to the medical services they signed up for and are paying for. They paid for an PPO and you all are now treating them as HMO- ridiculous

Orthonet does not assist in delivery of any health care as this company will only deny services prescribed by medical practitioners to make a profit off of patients who suffer.

We have been in business for nearly 3 Decades. Our patients have been communicating their tremendous upset to our clinic about the relationship that is developing between Anthem Blue Cross and Orthonet. The letter sent by Anthem to our patients defining this relationship clearly negated the value that a Physical Therapist plays in our patients life. Orthonet has had a long history of improper denial tactics and piling onto providers unnecessary paperwork for the purpose of stalling care to a patient. Physical Therapists prevent surgeries all day long and help patients to avoid unnecessary use of medications. This Orthonet and Anthem relationship will support driving patients to more invasive surgical procedures or unnecessary medications, that are many times can be avoided if provided physical therapy intervention. CA Department of Managed Healthcare has the ability to deny this relationship with Anthem and Orthonet and that is what I'm requesting. It should be denied because it will hurt the patient/subscriber more then you can even imagine. The backlash of patients not receiving Physical Therapy Intervention because of Orthonet will create a firestorm of problems for our patient population which is best to deny the relationship of Anthem and Orthonet. You will have a hard time CA Department of Managed Healthcare to put out this fire when it begins. Be wise and extinguish it today.

Ortho-Net-Anthem relationship is just another way for Anthem CEO's to deny care and allow RICH CEO's to make more $

Patients have paid a great deal of money to receive benefits and services as prescribed by their doctor. The arbitrary nature of Orthonet's systematic denial of services is nothing more than an intentional plan to block patients from access to the care that they deserve.

Say No to Ortho-Net.

Please stop this action- do not let OrthoNet direct patient care.

Patients are paying for their therapy benefits. They should be allowed to use them.

IT SHOULD BE UP TO PHYSICAL THERAPISTS AND THE HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS TO DETERMINE PATIENT CARE NOT INSURANCE COMPANIES!

Insurance companies that have trust and a good reputation need to add value for their insured lives and individuals, not insert added cost between providers and their insured individuals! The proposed use of OrthoNet as a 3rd party to review claims simply adds cost and does not add value with the arbitrary and capricious methods they rigorously utilize to deny visits of care. Typically they do NOT perform any real care or medical review but simply require a set of hoops with paperwork to jump through to get 4 visits, require MORE paperwork to get 2 more visits, MORE paperwork and then maybe 1-2 more visits, and then rarely or with an act of God 1-2 more for typical "plans of Care" (and I say that facetiously). The only criteria they seem to even look at are ROM, Strength, pain and they have a paperwork box for function, but do not believe they really know what that is. Any review that does take place by OrthoNet is arbitrary and/or capricious! Any review is review with the intent of denying and rationing medically necessary services by this third party. There is strong evidence from other states OrthoNet operates or has operated in that proves this, which can be provided. All patients deserve access to the medical services and care they and their employers who are paying for signed up for. There should be no rush or need to approve this third party "review" agent when there are ways to truly examine and measure value of care. Patients will be helped and not harmed by at minimum delaying any approval of this potentially harmful use of Orthonet as a review agency for 'care'.

Keep Ortho Nuts out of CA

As a PT in private practice I have seen the affects of these review organizations and there arbitrary denial of care. I oppose the OrthoNet Anthem relationship
