Although I am not an Anthem BC customer, I do work in the healthcare field and it would be such an inconvenience for patients to have to wait for approval which would cause a lapse in treatment. We want to be able to treat them in a timely manner and this will not allow us to do so. Please do not use a third party!

This only takes more away from trained medical providers ability to provide really good and needed care

I understand that you are close to making a decision to approve or deny the anthem OrthoNet relationship. I want to voice my opposition as a person working in health care. OrthoNet will subject patients to delays in getting care and ration care by potentially denying care that the physical therapist and physician recommend. This relationship will make it more difficult for therapists to provide care to our patients without delays and create an extra layer of unnecessary paperwork for the provider. While this is cumbersome to the provider, it is ultimately not good for patients. Please oppose this relationship. Thank you!

Physical therapists have been trained and are required to evaluate patients conditions, and in the State of California we have Direct Access which means we are able to determine if they have a musculoskeletal dysfunction without a doctor's referral. But now Anthem Blue Cross thinks we can't determine if it is medically necessary if their patients need care or not. These are PPO patients not HMO clients. I believe that if this is allowed to occur it will cost Anthem more money in Appeals. Orthonet is not in business of determining medical necessity, it is in business of attempting to decrease services to patients who have paid for benefits that they are entitled to if they have a condition that is in need of physical therapy services. On a side note, it is interesting that they are not targeting chiropractors only PT/OT services.

Patients deserve access to the medical services they signed up for and are paying for and this injustice must stop.

I'm opposing this business practice. It will hurt patient care.

This is an unneccessary delay or denial of care. The added paperwork will further add to the cost of providing care.

Please recognize that Ortho-Net's biz goal is to make money for themselves and the insurance companies they represent. They accomplish that goal via the denial of services to enrollees in the insurance plan. Is it not the opinion of the treating practitioner making the recommendation who is best positioned to assess the needs vs a person sitting in a cubicle thousands of miles away assessing the patient via the phone?

NO to BlueCross / Orthonet's reduction of care, limitation of health, and impedance to wellbeing!

They will arbitrarily cut back on PT services without any knowledge of the patients actual condition or co-morbidities. If they were present in the room during an evaluation then there may be room for discussion. Otherwise patients will suffer for greed of the insurance company executives.

Patients deserve access to the medical services they signed up for and are paying for. By implementing this program you are saying that PTs/OTs and physicians are not competent enough to decide if a patient should have therapy or not --what a joke

Keep patient care in the hands of the physicians, not a third party entity that bases care on numbers rather than patient examination.

I am so tired of non health care personnel making whimsical health decisions on patient care. I spent countless hours in school, in internships and 35 years in patient care. I take the time to evaluate and assess a client for skilled therapy and for a nonprofessional to tell me they know best, without any contact with the client, is absurd to say the least!! What next, "death panels" ?
