Physical Therapists Opposed to OrthoNet Business Practices

This proposed relationship is damaging for all patients but particularly those who have had symptoms for more than three months and are thus at risk for being labeled "chronic" and written off.

This is ridiculous. Why am I paying PPO premiums when my visits will have to be authorized like HMO, along with delays in rehab due to the authorization process after every 4-5 visits and risk even possible denial of my healthcare? Blue Cross, do not do this.

My physical well-being should only be in the hands of my physician and physical therapist. OrthoNet should have absolutely nothing to do in the decision of my health!!!

Anthem's decision to use OrthoNet will be a huge detriment to the health of patients in need of on-going care. The delays that will result in order to get the patients approved for initial or additional treatments will negatively impact their health!

Please Anthem-Orthonet relationship

I need my physical therapy. You have no right to determine, over my doctor's prescription for me to get physical therapy, whether or not I get that therapy. You need to butt out.

OrthoNet will subject patients to delays in getting care and ration care by potentially denying care that the physical therapist and physician recommend. This relationship will make it more difficult for therapists to provide care to our patients without delays and create an extra layer of unnecessary paperwork for the provider. While this is cumbersome to the provider, it is ultimately not good for patients.

Please stop the OrthoNet/Blue Cross deal as it will adversely affect patient and clinicians and shift more and more power, control and financial gain to the insurance carriers and middlemen who don't care about patient health and needs.

I am writing to urge you to reject the implementation of the Anthem-OrthoNet relationship. The initiation of this relationship will hinder my ability to provide exceptional care to my patients. In researching the Anthem-OrthoNet relationship I have noted that OrthoNet is not preforming actual medical reviews; that is done by the prescribing physician and the physical therapist. The doctor and therapist have the patient’s best interest in mind and first-hand knowledge of the patient’s condition (or conditions). In addition to their arbitrary review process, OrthoNet actively denies patients therapy visits to which their insurance entitles them. Having to obtain prior authorization from OrthoNet after the evaluation impedes the patient’s access to the care that he or she needs (and again; is paying for). A third-party company does not have the ability to determine a patient's physical therapy needs. My insurance is PPO not HMO and this is what happens with HMO insurance. I've paid very high premiums for a very long time to remain PPO. That should not be allowed. . I have MS and very much need therapy so I can still be a functioning member of society and not a burden to the healthcare system or any other system we have. It's outrageous that my therapy must stop now as of next week while third-party company decides whether or not I need to therapy. This should be illegal and if enough people get together and there's a class-action suit I'm certain it will be found to be illegal. It shouldn't be necessary to Sue and Lose valuable time in the progress I've made healing my foot from a fall that cause me to not walk for very long time or be able to drive while I still had to work. Please reverse the position on this. Other states have proof this is not in the patient's best interest and it does not work .

I oppose the OrthoNet-Anthem Relationship. Patients deserve the benefits promised by their health insurance, benefits that they are paying for!

OrthoNet engages n arbitrary and capricious review with the intent of denying and rationing medically necessary services.
