This young man, Officer Kerrick should not have been charged with this crime. It will be a waste of tax payers money to retry this case and totally unfair to Officer Kerrick!

I believe officer Kerrick acted professionally under the circumstances he was dealing with. Thank you to all officers who risk their lives for us each day and night. God Bless officer Kerrick and his family to soon return to a normal life.

our brave police officers have a tough job and this young man does not deserve to have to endure another trial. I am sorry that the family lost a loved one, but perhaps it is time for forgiveness.

a trial by community member jury found him not guilty. Suspicion lies in the politics of the City officials. He acted as a reasonable person would with similar training and it resulted in stopping a suspect aggressor that happened to die. The protestors are emotionally charged by racial tensions of the climate of many communities. The communities should seriously look to change the local governing body of the City.

Our police officers have to protect themselves, making life or death decisions in the split of a second. They were responding to what they were told was an attempted break in. Please do not further punish this young man. His life has already been negatively altered forever.

The news media reports Officer Kerrick to have shot an unarmed black man. It leads people to believe he knew the man was unarmed.
The comments that he should have holstered his gun and pulled out his baton or Taser or the step aside evasion would be fine if an attacker had come through an airport or courtroom metal detector showing no weapon, but on the street when being unarmed is an unknown to an officer it would be the wrong thing to do. If an attacker pulls a hidden gun you can not knock bullets from the air with a baton and a Taser is no match for a gun. Stepping aside with gun holstered would be deadly if a hidden gun is pulled by the attacker and the officer is shot. The officer who said Kerrick should have done any of these moves has no common sense!
I do not understand why a college graduate, Jonathan Ferrell, would charge police officers and direct his charge to the one officer with a drawn weapon. I believe he was an intelligent man and again do not understand why he did not heed the order to get on the ground 3 times. He would still be alive if he obeyed the order! I have to wonder if he had a death wish! Perhaps the high speed accident was his first attempt. Did he freak out because he believed the love of his life indicated she no longer wanted to see him? She did say on the witness stand that she always told him that she loved him when she left his place and regretted that she did not that night.
Officer Kerrick did the only thing he could do to protect his life and I do not see it as extreme force.
I regret the death of Jonathan Ferrell, but I do believe he made the wrong choices and is responsible for his own death.

Enough already! Just because the protesters are annoying, blocked traffic@ rush hour in a Friday afternoon, doesn't constitute a reason to re-try Officer Kerrick. It's sad if more of our tax dollars are wasted on it, with probably the same result! I feel if Officer Kerrick was black, all this whining wouldn't have happened over a damn mistrial.

Officer Kerrick did his job as trained to do. I believe the city of Charlotte acted in haste. Officer Kerrick received a fair trial as the evidence presented shows. Officer Kerrick has my full support.

As sad as this situation is, Officer Kerrick should have never been charged in the first place. After the release of the dash cam video that I along with thousands of other citizens waited to see, it is clear that Officer Kerrick acted in self defense. What I now believe happened is that the former Police Chief thought that he could further his career, possibly politically with the current administration by taking action to arrest Officer Kerrick after all of he national attention that came out of the Trayvon Martin case. I also believe that after an 8-4 vote to acquit this Officer in this trial, if the NC Attorney General takes this case back to trial that it is also for political gain in his quest for governor of NC. Enough money has been spent on this farce already.

"For nearly two years, Officer Kerrick has gone through this process. Officer Kerrick was charged with Voluntary Manslaughter, was arrested, was made to post a $50,000 secured bond, had a finding of a no true bill of indictment returned by the first grand jury, had his case presented again to a different grand jury, went through a civil lawsuit and finally, a criminal trial. He went through this process all while having to make a living for himself, his wife and their 15 month old son."
It should have ended with the first Grand Jury's no true bill of indictment.

After seeing the police dash-cam video, it baffles me how this ever even went to trial. Anyone remember when CMPD Officers, Nobles and Barnette tried to detain an unarmed black man and they both ended up fatally shot? This isn't a case of race, it's a case of parents not teaching their child to obey authority. But if the race card must be played, has anyone asked why the black suspect charged the only white police officer rather than either of the two black officers on the scene? Seems to me, justice was served that night.
