Follow the advice of your own SBI investigators... It was obvious that since you did not call any SBI to testify, their opinion did not confirm to your agenda. The SBI investigates officer involved shootings all across the state and are not bound by motivations that the former CMPD chief had, nor his command staff. It is disgusting that Roy Cooper's political ambitions led to him cowering and not standing up for this officer when the case was reviewed by the SBI in the first place. Now, Roy has allowed this to become his defining moment for his upcoming election... A bad decision that has come at the expense of this officers and others around our great state. Roy has yet to clarify to the remaining law enforcement agencies throughout this state - is what the AG has been advising our training departments across this state no longer the "standard". Are we not allowed to defend ourselves against a threat of violence (and yes a trained football player who demonstrates that he is non compliant and combative is a threat). Step up to the microphone Roy, we can't hear you...

If people would respect law enforcement and do as they are asked, situations like this could be avoided. At the end of the day, our officers like all of us want to go home to their families. I'm just thankful that we have men and women who want to put their lives on the line every day for people they don't even know. Could you do that?

The facts are clear in the case it was an unfortunate but justified shooting. As an officer it is hard enough to get a fair trial from a jury pool uninformed on the reality of police work and even more in a case that has been broadcast with so much media misinformation. Any future trial will result in a mistrial or an acquittal. Don't place either family or the tax payers wallets through another trial that should have never been.

All officers are sworn in to protect and serve.. Officer Kerrick responded to a call on that fateful evening, with every thought it was a break in.. Said suspect, did not halt or adhere to the officer. Officer Kerrick in my opinion acted out in self protection. Plain and simple! Sincerely, Tabatha Miller

Please leave all of this alone. Let the healing process begin. There will never be a group of 12 people who will find him guilty. He preformed his job the way he was trained. One officer teaser, one lethal (draws gun), shoot until threat is stopped. That is why he stopped shooting at 12 he still had 4 more rounds. Third officer never fired his weapon because Kerrick was in his line of fire. That is why prosecutors never called the 3rd officer on the scene.

A retrial of Wes Kerrick would be an injustice and a waste of taxpayer money. This should have never gone to trial after the first grand jury said there was not enough evidence to try him.

Put politics aside and do not retry officer Kerrick. You have already alienated law enforcement and EMS which will not vote for you not that that should matter because this is about an officer who was rushed at by a suspect and felt for his life. You were wrong to rush to an arrest and to pick and choose grand juries. Try prosecuting real criminals who I see take bogus plea deals all the time. Stop wasting my tax dollars on this bogus case that should never have been tried.

They had their day in court. Just because thing didn't go thier way doesn't mean the process didn't work. Get over it and work on blacks killing blacks and let the police do thier jobs without fear of this happening everytime they are confronted with life threating situtations!

After what happened to officers Barnett and Nobles, who were both killed by the same''unarmed black man'' at the same time, why cannot anyone understand the fear an officer has when a huge man runs at him and will not stop. Leave Wes alone, he and his family have been through enough.
