Once again I find myself vehemently opposed to a recent development in the Canadian legislative or judicial system, and I cannot in good conscience say nothing. I have been following the case to a degree; the "harassment", in this case, appears to be that Elliot continued to defend himself publicly from the attacks made against his character by these individuals and in doing so make direct reference to the offending party. Ironic that the real victim of harassment is the one defending himself from harassment charges.
Petitions are at best a trifling gesture; they ultimately do little to temper the will of the government once set in its path, but I'll sign it out of solidarity with the victims nonetheless. And I say victims, not just in reference to the gross abuse of justice Mr. Elliott would experience should he be convicted (and has been experiencing thanks to this farce even being entertained in court), but to the hundreds if not thousands of others whose lives shall be ruined and whose speech silenced should such a precedent be set.
