I support a "Traditional" School Calendar in District 225 that doesn't start school earlier in the summer.

I do not support my teen losing the opportunity for work/camp in the summer. I do not support teenagers having nothing to do in May/June. The only time we can spend with kids on family vacations is the time you want to take away. I do not support taking away the festive, social events that would disappear in December because of end of term and finals. I would like the school year start later, no earlier than the week before Labor day. I say Do Not Change The Schedule or start the school year later.

I oppose changing the calendar. Kids will have 18 weeks of school without breaks during the first semester.

I will be heartbroken if they change our schedule. It is a horrible idea to change it for the numerous reasons posted.

Many summer programs for teens are offered in august, not to mention that's the only time we have an opportunity to spend time with kids on family vacations. Please don't change the schedule.

My son has been going to an overnight camp for the last 6 years and he plans on working there for his last two summers of high school... some thing that they all look forward to for years!!! So, the current calendar is perfect the way it is. We do not support any changes!!!

Camps, family trips and warm summer weather are the way summer should be! School should start after Labor Day.

The change will massively impact the performing arts schedules and performances. Keep it the same!

Think about the rest of the world. August is the vacation month. Doesn’t make sense!!!

Summer doesn't arrive to Chicago until after June 21st. In addition, many camp schedules follow traditional calendar and kids will not be able to attend august camps while parents will face babysitting issues in late May, early June.

I'm not a fan of starting the school year earlier for many reasons. Like many others here, I'd prefer it to start AFTER Labor Day, like DePaul U and UW Madison, both which started on 9/5/18.
