I strongly oppose HSB 138 and the elimination of licensure of Massage Therapy, Barbering, Barbershops and Barber Schools. I strongly oppose the elimination of the Boards of Massage Therapy and Barbering, and the public protection they provide. Under current law, Massage Therapists and Barbers have educational requirements which are not only aimed at the protection of the public, but qualified training in the field of their choice. It is short sighted and disrespectful to the licensed professionals in the state of Iowa to eliminate these professions with the stroke of a pen.
